hey there bob! ^^ some good stong studies you've got going on here.
I think doing perspective now is definitely the right thing. you're doing awfull complicated shapes right off the bat though. which makes it hard for me at least to tell if you got it right. have you considered constructing like this?:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNdXwWr_KY0

it gives you possibilities of doing complicated shapes, and you can be sure you got everything right at the same time!

    >>SKETCHBOOK. you'll visit me. I'll visit you, we'll have a tea party. with arts and shit. it'll be dreamy. stop by.

Thanks for the link Ashess, The girl in the video builds her shapes a lot like the guy in the dvd i watched, difference is that the guy i watched also works inside out, instead of just outside in. And it is the way i am constructing to. I try to measure as much as possible because i am just starting out to. Let the freehand wait for a bit longer, until I can more easily see my mistakes straight away.

Here are a few more pages of my sketchbook i did today,
-2 gestures (did a few more, but don't bother posting them now)
    - some more perspective practice.

    Update includes:
    - More perspective practice.
    - My first portrays from: Lady gaga, Deadmau5 and Tara Lynne Barr. All from reference. I like the Deadmau5 one, but that was also the easiest one. =P
    - Some random stuff

Did some gestures from pixelovely.com. I think those gestures are improving, But still a long long way to go. Time to go to sleep!

Nice work on the perspective drawings. I'm just starting to look into perspective and it's giving me lots of trouble!

Your faces have improved a lot since the Loomis studies. Keep up the good work!

    Thanks Perfectget!

I am glad to hear they are getting a bit better at least.
Have only done a little bit of practice today, had other stuff to do, but I will try to work double as much tomorrow. ^^ Because of the little work i did today i will just show some older digital works for now.

one wacom-drawing, a pen tool drawing, and a image that is a combination between pen tool

And last a image that is a combination of pentool for making shapes, brush tool for shading and textures in witch a lot of hours went, but i am seeing a lot of errors by now. This is the kind of abstract work that i was stuck in. And that is why i went to fundamentals. Because i cant make believable more understandable scenes and drawings. And of course these same fundamentals will improve Abstract images just as much.

    Hey there,

Some of those past abstract graphic stuff you did are pretty cool, don't loose sight of that while you learn to draw. Keep doing them, and incorporate them into your drawing.

Studying figures and anatomy from pictures is all fine, but never forget to draw and observe from life. Draw anything, fruits, furniture, houses, trees, it's all important.

    Keep working hard.

@ Sammsfield The dvd is very worthwhile don't you think? I really enjoy perspective, I hope you do to. and thank you!

@ hunterkiller, Thanks for the kind words! and i will keep at the graphic kind of work and I agree that trying to combine it in the future is a good idea. When different mediums or ways of working get combined interesting things can come up, the exact reason why sometimes when people do collaborations they get better results then either of them got before. and also try to do more painting from life.

@ kendall! thanks man. Very glad you like them, I will keep working!

Here are some updates! a bunch of gestures (I find it rally hard to get proportions right in little time, more practice needed i guess), line quality practice, value practice both digital and traditional, and a lot of random doodles. =)

Hello, wow, I'm amazed at all of the studies you're doing. I like how you are addressing the areas that you need to work on; keep going!

I hear a lot of people say that drawing from life is of utmost importance; like the life study you did on the 1st page.
I can't think of much critique right now, but if you keep doing so many studies you'll surely get to great places!
I really like the cityscape you did.

(also thanks for stopping by in my sketchbook. o/)

Here are two value testings. the colors and textures where added after to make it look at least a little appealing.

Actually did some more, but did not think about saving them. =/
Also filled up my first sketchbook. =) Didn't expect to get that done that fast.
Might post the last pages later on.

The perspective and light/tone studies are nice and really inspiring to finally pour some quality time into this. You're doing good and practice regularly, keep it up!

    Thank you benny!

Did a few combinations of perspective + value training, bu trying to set up little scenes in perspective. Here is one i thought turned out quite nice. But I feel the water thing is off, I understand why I surely learned from that. And I just noticed the clock is mirrored. because i mirrored the image a few times. =P again texture added at the end.

Also did a few gestures today.

yeah like kendal I like your kind of abstract photo manip. There is a fluidity in it that I didn't see in your other work. Keep doing anatomy sketches, that can only be good :]

So didn't draw today. But a great graphic designer named Justin Maller give out one of his older images for remixing, and he will bring out the ones he likes most as a wallpaper pack. So I had to take the chance to remix his work. I have a wallpaper sized version to.

Here is the of his wallpaper project:

Been a big while since I uploaded here, it has verious reasons but one of them is that i have been more lazy then i should be. Doesn't mean i didn't draw at all, just not quite as much as i would want i did. But this month for me is a free month of any obligations, So lets start working hard and get into that habit of drawing daily!

hi thanks for posting in my sb, ur stuff is looking good! love the shapes in 3d very interesting. the figures are looking awesome u seem to be able to hit them in perspective good. try doing them without ref. push the values of your shading studies, (more contrast) and good luck

thank you for the replies guys. I'm gonna take your advice care, and going to do some gesture drawings from ref first and then some from the top of my head later tonight.

Here are 2 heads I did today, mainly as a practice for painting and using that wacom. took me way longer then it should, but I bet speed will come with practice to.

    Gestures
#1 to 6 are 60 seconds. Tryed to focus on improving my lines a bit and only put down most important ones.
#7 to 10 are from the head.

did a quick leg muscle study. Should redo it when i am fully awake because this is just horrible. and some random stuff.

Hey man thanks for stopping by my SB - I've been having a really shitty week and seeing your comment was a pick me up - so thanks! I love your pen tool drawings.

I think you should try, in addition to your gestures for the figure, try to do longer renderings of them.
