Mosquito sucking my blood at 3x magnification

Yes I know I am crazy. This weekend I was playing outside with the family and the mosquitoes were eating us alive. I decided to film one the entire time while he was feeding on me.

When I was a kid we considered it fun to let a mosquito suck herself virtually completely full and then smack her, thus spattering freshly sucked blood all over the place. ;-)

And my personal low point in life came when I tried this and the stupid mosquito couldn't find a vein! It tried like three times and then I decided to put it out of its misery.

Pretty markings on the critter though, you never notice how interesting even things like that can be, though this is kind of a weird first post, if I may say.

I wonder what drinking from an anemic person is like to them. Is it like drinking a diet soda? As in it's watered down and unsatisfying?

...Maybe that's why I don't seem to get bitten that often.

One day, I want to get blind drunk and then have the little monsters have their way with me. Might be interesting to see if they can still fly straight afterwards... :-)

Reminds me one summer when some Germans that we hosted at our country cottage avoided the mosquito infested berry-yard at all costs in fear of catching malaria despite all our efforts to convince them the climate here was unsuited for mosquito born diseases to spread. They also thought the swamps, that there were ample of in nearby areas, hosted crocodiles and that us expecting them to use the outhouse was surely a violation of human rights. Not making fun of Germans, just those in particular.

Well, back where I spent my summers if you didn't kill them when they were biting you you'd be utterly covered in them in a minute or so (not to mention most of them don't infect anything in here). At least you could exact some sweet revenge upon mosquitoes, unlike horse-flies and blackflies...

Well, that's only a significant danger of you live in an area plagued by mosquito-borne diseases. :-)

Problem is there are mosquitoes that can spread disease anywhere. Certain areas are more likely than others I bet though.

I'm less afraid of mosquitoes, insanely afraid of ticks. Once you deal with someone getting a serious case of lymes and a coinfection in your family you learn to never fuck around with ticks. It's becoming a pandemic around my area.

Even worse when you deal with the corrupt ass medical community and insurance companies trying to treat it.

Well, since it,s the females that drink blood, at least you're stopping it from going to lay eggs....

Hey a bit off topic but I got an ad first before your video. Do you get paid for this ad? You only have 2,000 views and I thought that people get payable ads once they hit 1M views?

    I didn't, but I have Ad Block.

Mozzies are the reason I can't give blood. I haven't had malaria, but I have been exposed and have antibodies. The current blood tests are such that I'm now barred after giving for years. I miss the stale biscuits.

Looks like the Asian Tiger mosquito, Aedes albopictus. As far as invasive species go, these guys are on top of my list of most annoying.

Those damned deer, huh? I had venison burgers the other night - they were really nice!
