Wanted to share another original oil painting that I'll have on view at Spectrum Live. Oil on paper mounted on MDF 13"x 19". Was tons of fun to do in between work. I originally had some kind of scanner or ipad looking thing in his hand but thought it looked a little cliche. My creative director suggested putting cash in his hand to add to the narrative. I loved the idea. Maybe he owes bookies, maybe he just bought it.... much more satisfying that a pad or ray gun. Hope to meet those of you coming to the con. Later!
MTG Illustrator Matt Stewart posed as the figure in this painting. Sketches, reference pics for this and other art is on my blog. As well as photos from a recent life painting session with James Gurney and Max Ginsburg.
Super! Love the colors...And I think the ring is a cool touch, adds some more story to the painting.
If you don't mind me asking, how did you get such a great photo of your painting?
Thanks guys. Blackthorne, I take all my original art to a professional photography studio in upstate NY where I live. There's so many illustrators that use them that they know exactly what to do. I did a little post clean up in photoshop to remove dust and tweek the colors a bit. I also add a sharpen filter once to make my oil paintings crisp before putting things online.
