    Striving for Improvement

I have always had an underlying fear of posting stuff here, but although DeviantArt and facebook is supplying me with ample amounts of back pats and smilyfaces I wont improve unless someone tears me a new one.

So without further chit chat heres the stuff i made the past month that made it online.

photoshop crashed this was my reaction

    Crits are of course welcome

Now exucuse me while I go and have a look at some of the other sketchbooks here, cry in a corner for a bit and go off to study fundamentals

lol the first line in this sketchbook cracked me up. you made the right choice coming here. too much asspatting can be detrimental-asskicking is more useful! anyway, the photo studies are nice, but if i were you i would focus on getting your drawing down pat. and by that i mean, structure, perspective, anatomy-the fundamentals. rendering and painting is just the icing on the cake. that being said however, i think your thread thumbnail looks promising simply because the value structure is solid. anyway, keep posting!

and yes! structure, perspective and anatomy are my pit falls I do draw a lot from life but not nearly as much as I should.

I did do some more work on the tumbnail painting but I've been too swamped with school to finish it as of yet

ah your first line, the face patting sure is nice eh? until you realize you're not improving at all = =

definitely what eightball is said, you seem to be a higher skill level in rendering and with color but your basics are a little lacking
the proportions/anatomy of that female is off so if you plan on painting more humans, definitely work on just constructing the human body w/ form and lines

good job on the black and white studies but again, try to work on your basic sketches before rendering as I think that will help you improve getting your lines down correctly, rather take an hour or so to do a sketch then do value study

    keep at it !

Working on my concept art college application
One page down 24 to go (I am working on several at a time.)

    http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/i/20...st-d5lsunz.jpg

I'm wondering if I made the crossguard to diffuse in the detail section (might add the scabbard since I made that too but its not finished yet)

spent a few minutes polishing up the crossguard section

sword page 2. I need to speed these up if I want to finish in time.

not as clean as the first one, have to fix that before I send the applications off
