    dschu's stuff

heya and welcome to my sb!

i'm gina, 25 years old and from germany.
i thought it's finally time for some serious improvement in my art, and now that i found the courage, will and motivation to do so, i'm really looking forward to it.

    first post!

some grayscale experiments from the past 2 days.
thought this would be a good exercise to learn something about contrast and color composition.

here have some creatures, my fav things to draw~

i like the top right one the most since the color comp works the best for me. i really have to learn more about this stuff.

i was always wondering how to color grayscale stuff, so i experimented a bit and this came out.

    todays studies~

human anatomy is my worst enemy, so i did some posemaniac 60 second drawings it's really hard for me to get the forms and proportions right.
any tips and critique is highly appreciated

started with 30 second poses and realised that this wasn't enough time, so i did a bunch of 60 second drawings

and some photo studies with wip shots

the falcon took roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes

this caiman took probably more than 3 hours, i forgot to stop the time :B

    today was.. horrible

i started with a knight study and didn't had a lot of motivation to finish it (took me 2 hours total, but felt like way more than 4 hours.) so the first 30 minutes i had a fight with the lines and proportions till i was nearly happy with it, then i spent another 20 minutes on some coloring and finally took it out of my way 'cuz i couldn't concentrate any longer on it. i picked it up later and spent a bit over 1 hour to refine it a bit more, meh.
then i did some awful looking 60 seconds drawings from posemaniacs XD i'm fully aware that the proportions and everything is really really off. i dunno what happend, i couldn't concentrate on them as well maybe you can laugh at them too, i know i did.

stuff from the past 4 days.

Loomis study of the ideal male proportions. i really screwed this one up because i suck at human anatomy/proportions. not sure if i learned something from that :/

this is something that i started on the weekend as a birthday present for my good friend Maggy. :3
the version i gave to her had some textures and birthday wishes. i promised her that she'll get something better when i can actually draw humans and everything else. :B

    Attachment 1477915
there was a point where i thought that it made 'click'
and later i did a few eye studies with photo ref and found them really hard to do.
those two from mind are horrible o_o i've no idea how to shade them properly. but at least i learned a bit.

Awesome stuff, keep it up! I adore your longer studies (like the frog and the snake), those look great

For anatomy, just keep it up with Loomis and try to do some quick daily gestures. I'm sure you'll improve quickly, you're very good!
