Did a few semi-realistic digital paintings from promo shots of The Hunger Games. Request from a friend.
Done on Paint Tool Sai with a tablet.
Still trying to get skintones down. For Peeta (the guy). I first layered down a dark color, but then I realized that the dominant color was mostly lighter tones so it was pretty messy to fix, and of course it came out dark.
Did Katniss second, I seem to have found a better technique for that one.
Also trying to lay down shadow patterns. Promo shots aren't the best for lighting but eh.
I got my first figure study/realism study book by Michael Hampton. Working from there.
I have trouble being confident with my lines. I'm also someone who really likes exact measurements of all porportions and getting everything aligned right, but apparently that's not advised. Gotta loosen up my hand.
Wow it's been a while. I've recently taken up classes with a local art teacher to improve my life drawing skills for a portfolio. Here are a few portraits that I've done throughout October and November, ordered from the earliest to the latest. Maybe I'll post some earlier stuff later once/if I take pictures of it.
Wow! I really like those portraits....it is an incredible jump from the post with the Michael Hampton studies and the Hunger Game promo portraits...I would love to see some of the earlier stuff to see the progression....I agree with Torknew, as well, liked to see how this translates into your work from imagination. I want to get to painting, one day too. But, I am still working on my basic drawing skills right now. I don't know anything really about color...but I really love your use of color in your portraits...Please keep sharing.
Thanks amaranthxx! I've recently been doing some stuff for my Scholastic Art competition, and these are two of the entries (the other two are the portraits on the previous posts)
I guess need to get cracking on figure studies though. I haven't gotten to that in a while.
I've put up some personal/imaginative work as well. Most of it's fairly old at this point (about 2 months) and some of it's fanart but I guess it gives you guys a feel for what I mostly draw.
I think I'm improving with landscapes. I need to work on desaturating my colors though. I don't think I've got graying things down tbh. And also I need to work on making my paintings clearer and less muddy, and noticing a lot of big things from far away because I totally missed the back lighting patterns on the trees.
On a different note I got braces today. Wow a+ would wear again I love having to eat sandwiches blended into a muddy mash and almost having my cheek impaled by the corners.
