I ran across this informative article regarding the 1 Trillion dollar student loan debt crisis in the US. It has a good description of the history of how we came to be here. There are nationwide protests today regarding the student debt crisis.
The one thing I learned growing up in a poor home with debt issues. I'm not going to borrow or take out loans unless I know I can pay it off. I could have gone the same student loan route. Glad I didn't.
Obviously the issue is more complex than just don't spend. Like in the article guy borrows 26k, pays 32k, still owes a ton from interest. Despite being a student loan for college =/
