The pencil work for an art nouveau-esque painting on an old piece of particle board someone left near my house.

Thank you! The face is a bit wonky, so I may tweak it before I start painting.

Just a super quick mock paint in photoshop to get colors down before I start.

Great starts, but it would be best for you to practice the basics again--why don't you take a look at Loomis' books for head and hands?

Thanks, and you're right. I'll probably be doing some Loomis and Bridgeman studies next.

I think your basic anatomy is pretty solid actually. What you need in your sketches is more organic lines. In your legs and arms especially, your lines are way too generic and straight. The human forms have actually a lot of bumps and unevenness unlike what you depict in your anatomical sketches. This video explains exactly what I'm talking about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhF4fBetN4Y Good luck

Thanks for the advice Axel. I definitely see what you mean bout my line work, I have a weird need to simplify forms even when it's counterproductive to the drawing I'm working on. I should break, or at least temper, the habit before I get stuck in a rut.

Sorry no serious studies still. I'm being lazy now that I have a bit of a holiday break. I decided to scan some more of my classroom doodles that I found from last week though. Don't give up on me everyone, I'll try harder to not suck!

Just ordered some moleskins so no one will have to bear the site of all this lined paper any longer.

Thanks ForScience! I try to keep my sketches fun, to a fault probably, but things will be getting more serious in this upcoming semester since I have a lot of studio classes coming up.

The last of my fall semester notebook doodles and then a quick sketch up of a pokemon thingy.

#51 is really nice. I could see easily see that being a screenshot from a animated series. Your figures look great to!

Love your style, it's very expressive and fun. Have you ever thought about doing animation?
Also, I've noticed you keep using DIN A4 sheets. Maybe it would be good practice for you to try and draw bigger every now and then :]
And if you're trying to get a more realistic look, there's hardly a better practice than drawing from life. Doing portraits and sketches of people on the train works for me ^^

Anyway, nice work so far. Curious to see more.
