I like dark humour, and it amazes me when people are unable to read a joke without spewing moral lessons. Maybe I did misread the audience. Perhaps I'll stick to the Community activities section of the website, as my last couple of threads haven't gone down too well.

Why does it seem our species as a whole cannot empathize with fellow earthlings? We must be just an advanced virus. There is no other explanation.

When I find a spider or lizard or anything, I trap it with a box or something and set it free outside...Not because I want to be a goody good, but rather because I think to myself "Man, I bet that spider is scared as shit seeing something a thousand times it's size. Related tangent.

Well I often hear people ask me about hamsters. "Aren't they mean?" No, hamsters are prey animals. In the wild, larger animals come after them to eat them. So understanding that, when you see a hamster sleeping and think "aww cute lemme pet it" then wonder why it nearly bit your finger off. Think about being a small animal constantly hunted after and chased after, trying to sleep...of course it's going to rely on its instincts.

So if you get your kids a hamster folks, know it tends to sleep during most of the day. If you need to wake it up, tap on the cage and let it rouse up before letting little Timmy poke his finger to pet his Binky.

You almost got me there, as if they look like man-eating bats or something but then I looked up their diet and I was like, "Oh... Figs... Now if only my dad didn't cut down that fig tree in our previous backyard and these would fly over to America somehow and I could bask in their majestic beauty. (Lol)"

I've never understood why so many people hate bats. I learned to call them when I was young (shrill whistle) and they would fly by very close to check it out. I used it to torture my sisters when we played outside in the evenings. Had so much fun. I have loved bats ever since.

They cause property damage and car accidents, and are a major factor in the explosive spread of tick-borne illnesses like Lyme disease. And yet, efforts to control the deer population continually run into people's emotional opposition to "killing Bambi." It's the flipside of the "kill it because it's scary" attitude.

^This. I've known 5 people who got into car accidents from deer. I was almost in one myself if we weren't in a big vehicle that barely dented. But would have gone spinning off into a tree. I could have been dead as we were going rather fast. Then the area I'm in we have literally herds of deer. When I moved here I looked in neighbors yards and there was 13 deer there. At first I was amazed. "Oh wow thats so beautiful". Then I lived here for a bit. The level of lymes disease is at plague levels. My sister got lymes and a blood parasite living here and is awful shape. Then her nurse that comes to visit has lymes, and his wife has lymes and the blood parasite. It's crazy. Even more so that I never got it since I went running through the woods around here with my dogs a lot.

I laugh because you get the reaction as you said like it's Bambii and people get upset. But I laugh because honestly I view Deer as more of a threat than something scary looking but harmless.

(But if a giant bat ended up in my house or was flying around me I'd still freak out. Can't help a fear response)

I'm fucking glad those Unicorns are extinct. Those motherfuckers are scary. I don't want to be impaled by a majestic rainbow glitter horn made of magic and wonderment.

There are a lot of deer around my house (I live out in the country). I actually had a deer crash into the side of my work truck once. It almost came through the window. That was a nice suprise at three in the morning.

Another time, I saw a deer get hit by a mac truck. Nothing but a cloud of red and little hand sized chunks left steaming on the road.
