Well thanks, I might attempt a challenge (even if it's a teen challenge) next time around. I'll see if I improve.

Aoife and Sianach, the Old Council Guardian

2nd round of coloring. Starting to get there, still need to add some more enchantress accessories and foliage shadow but there's still time to get there.

@Johann de Venecia - Beautiful line work, reminds me of watercolor and ink paintings. The arms could move if there was extensions at the elbows cuffs, so I'll believe its functional

@Rhdnor - like the time period for the enchantress, the top hat's a plus.

@M.D. Stranger. - Cyborg enchantress, I like it. The guardian's right arm is in his chest, I would say just slid it over a bit and your good.

@JanJager - Beautiful girl, like the shadows with the bangs. I like how the arms are encircling with an inanimate protection. and you kept the runes woot!

@Trolljack - love the magic power currents, thinking of something similar trailing, I would go with the spiky red hair, more street urchin vibe.

So many diverse entries, amazing work all.

Abrazuno : i like the dragon guardian you've got there, it might be cool to show some gears or pistons maybe up in the shoulder socket or something to make it a bit more clear that he is actually mechanical and not just a metallic dragon.

continue : i'm loving those boxing gloves on your robot!

Whiskey Sour : looking pretty neat so far, but keep in mind that both the robot and the girl are supposed to be neutral, right now he's lookin' pretty sinister.

marko markovic : watch the balance on the character illustration she looks a bit lopsided atm, try some horizontal flips to check. your main illustration is shaping up to be pretty cool, some atmospheric fog to push back and simplify the back legs on the guardian will help to create depth and also give you more control of the focus.

Trolljack : that jacket she's got is really cool, she looks a bit young atm if you're shooting for her to be 16ish. can't wait to see what you come up with for the guardian!

Grumbleputty : if you're worried about him not seeming mechanical enough you can always add in some more mechanical elements, something like a waterwheel in place of his head could be neat and would go along with the water theme you've got going. also check he balance, his pose seems a bit off.

Pixeltuner : looking great as always keep it up!

panb : thats a cool idea, the graffiti covered look of the robot is great, almost like someone animated some playground equipment or something. i'd love to see it pushed further!

JanJager : man that is just... freakin' awesome! nice work!

i finally found some more time to work on this...
some refinement on the Aoife concept, i think i'm gonna go with #1 maybe add in some of the pouches from #2.
also some roughs for the mechanical guardian, this one's kinda messin' with my brain, try as i might i just can't get Dog from HL2 out of my head. still really up in the air on the guardian so if anyone has any feedback i'd appreciate it.

@Abrazuno: I like the picture a lot. It has very nice energies. I think Maybe introducing different shades in the color of the dragon would help? It would help it graphically I think.

@Dranyer: I Like #3 on the character design. It's very unique.

And I think #2 and #3 are the strongest in the mechine. #3's helmet thingie is very cool. Awesome technique BTW.

    And here's another sketch

Continue: I really love the robot's upper half receding into the shadows, however her nose and lips are a tad cartoony-shiny (plus the face shape is a little grown up) but assuming they're not done yet. Otherwise the hint of the connection between them is shown very subtly, very nice.

Incinerated: It might be a bit too old. Just tweak her face a bit to make her look younger.

Here's an update on number 3.

@ Grumbleputty - hydraulics can be considered mechanical, so just stick a few pumps and valves on the guy and you're good to go

@ Dranyer - I think guardian number two looks like the best fit in terms of style. It matches the design theme you have for Aoife most closely.

@ Incinerated - I like the mechanical penguin idea. It's very unique.

I'm sure this is way too late for a critique, but it never hurts.
To be honest, she definitely looks too adult. Her appearance also does not reflect a type of "innocence" that a girl of neutrality would have in the world described in the brief. What you have going on here is, "hey boys, I'm here for the taking, come get me," type of girl with very revealing clothing to match. I would re-think her design and gesture as well. I'm not trying to be mean but, I don't think a pinup style doing the can-can works with this one. Try thinking about the type of world she exists in, the environment, perhaps why that is the type of robot it is, and examine the brief thoroughly to get a solid character idea.

I like the robot, it looks pretty cool. I would also think about the robot's functionality. It needs to be able to protect the girl.

Good luck, I hope this was useful some how.
