    Chris' Sketchbook.

I've been horrible at keeping my old SB alive. It's been dead for years.

That doesn't mean I haven't stopped drawing & painting, though, not as much as I used to. Sooo the plan is to reacquaint myself with this place, basically, start fresh - again. You get the idea.

Here's my old SB for reference.

Here's some fanart from Doom, Half-Life and Streetfighter, just to show where I am today.
It's kind of a mixed bag of different styles and techniques.
Personally, I didn't know what the hell I was doing half the time-
-just mixing stuff and see what happened.

Oh, I've recently started sketching on paper again as you can see on the last one.

I'll post some of my original stuff later.

Oy, ty for stopping by mah lil SB.^_^

I love your minataur-esque creature (if its from a game, I dunno which one), nice mood and character movement!

I like how you're playing with styles. Keep at it, I'll be watching. ^^
Please, help me improve by visiting my sketchbook and kicking me in the ass! ^_^

xerenity -Thanks! Yes, the minotaur monster is my tribute to the classic Hellknight from Doom.

A small update for now. I entered last weeks chow a little too late and couldn't finish in time, so I figured I'd just go my own way, at my own pace with it.

I could use some crits on color and composition. I'm no good with environments.
    Thanks

Good stuff man, I'm loving your ideas.

Do you flip your canvases as you work on them in photoshop? If not, it might help you - you'll see mistakes that you didn't catch before.

I can tell you need to do some perspective studies. (don't we all) I've noticed it's off in quite a few of your pieces.

    Love your HL2 stuff haha

liquorbleu - Thanks. Yes, I flip the canvas back and forth all the time. I even have a button set for it. I definitely plan on learning more about perspective.

Alright, another small update on my wip.
Tell me what you guys think of it. I'm thinking about adding like a large ray of pale light coming down on the girl.

Heya, love the environment, the concept is very engaging. Your idea about a light beam falling through the trees sounds like it would work well.

I'm not super qualified to make any critiques, but something that caught my eye was somewhat of a lack of any strong light source, I just feel like the image is flatter than it could be with only a little more highlight, and a few darker darks. But then I am unfamiliar with your workflow, maybe you have considered this already.

Love the DOOM tributes, but man who didn't pick up that helmet? Thats worth like 10 armor!

Wretched - Hey, thanks! Yea, the light is all over the place atm, kind of like my "work flow". Haha! ;P I really suck at this and should learn to block in the values before I start anything else.

Doom guy is picky with his helmets. If there's brainmatter in there, he won't touch it with a ten foot pole.

    Wavenwater - Thank you.

Here's another wip I started working on about a month ago. Guess I sort of forgot about it. I took some inspiration from Red Sonya and combined it with a rougue, punk'ish warrior girl, who doesn't take shit from no one. I figured I'd post it and see if anyone notices anything I need to correct. It's non ref.

Gah this last one is lovely, great sense of scale and the hues of the luminescent areas seem really well balanced. The large central column seems to flatten out a bit toward the bottom, but overall awesome so far.

..and 286??? Wow, I definitely need to sketch more.
