Thread: si3g's Sketchbook
April 11th, 2012 #1
Well I'm a newb here on conceptart, this being my first thread posted, I have no idea
what I'm doing ...
I'm a 16 year old guy, currently living in South Africa. I've been drawing my whole life,
like a lot of people, but I seriously got into it when I was about 12. I first started doing
digital art late 2010, and have loved it ever since.
Here's a sketch I did last night, inspired by watching some Xia Taptara
(http://xiaman.deviantart.com/) tutorials once again..
I'd really appreciate any feedback.

Just want to quickly explain why I've been very inactive lately.
To put it simply, we've moved. Things have been upside down
to say the least, and the worst of all, I didn't have internet for
longer than I care to remember.
Less rambling more art I'm guessing you're thinking right now,
so I'm gonna shut up and keep this short and relatively sweet...ish.
Thanks htkpeh, I appreciate it.
I just wanna add that this is actually quite old, and frankly, shit, but I thought I'd upload it anyway, just for the sake of it.
Ah, finally something half decent. (below, just to avoid confusion )
as always, feedback of any sort, is much appreciated

Hey thanks for commenting on my SB, you've got some great tones going with the digital pieces that you posted. The previous enviro is coming along great, with a little bit of refining it will turn out to be a 'star' piece. Good studies with the eyes, it really appears to be coming out of the page. Keep up the good work.
Insert very insightful quotes here ...
- get back to work!

Ah I'm finally back
You're welcome, strings, and thank you.
Thanks, Rev, I'll focus more on getting my proportions right, hopefully some of
these paintings are a bit more accurate..
Experimenting with some low key paintings (above and below)
This one I did today, just a quick 20 min painting to try out my smudgeguard (Every digital artist should get one of these, they're awesome) and a diamond shaped brush I made. (below)

A huge dump.. of art.. mostly
Well I've got no exuses to why I've been so inactive.. annyway.
As always, I'd really appreciate any comments/crits!
Lets start off with some crap from both my traditional and digital "sketchbook"
first time attempting to draw animals XD (and of course the faces, always the faces)
sorry about the bad quality, I'm too lazy to scan them in..
Just a quick concept, trying to make something that might fit in the
Assassins Creed Revelations world.
A portrait I did for a friend on deviantart

Awesome, I'll be looking forward to seeing some epic heads of yours .. The only book I can think of right now is The Artist's Complete Guide to Drawing the Head by William Maughan, I haven't read it, but it seems pretty good, maybe that can help you? You can also find some great tutorials online, idrawgirls.com is a great place to start, (http://idrawgirls.blogspot.com/ for the free tutorials).
Thanks so much!

Finally time for a quick update.
I've been doing a bit of work that I can't show here yet, but I thought I'd upload these sketches I've been doing in my spare time.
ChisLu Thanks! I appreciate it.
Done entirely with a rake brush in photoshop. Just a bit of fun.
Any feedback is welcome.
