The idea is that this is one of many recievers for long range star-to-star transmissions, sending and recieving messages planetside and then bouncing them back and recieving them on the large dish. Living quarter for crew and space for supplies, with a central elevator shaft for moving large quantities of equipment.

Galo-This was done in Painter5, sketch was done on paper, very rough than it was scanned and the rest is Painter.

    Cool idea, SWPX.

A bit dark. Maybe you could add more to it.
If that only took you 25 mins.

Or, maybe you are like me...

    :trippy:

    Goran- Tight design.

SWPX I like it. Maybe add some structures under the layer of gas enveloping the comet to bring home that it has been modified. Plus then you could maybe have metal reflecting that nice orange glow etc.

Sigma-X Damn, you must work fast in 3-D. I think the design suceeds at communicating function visually.

Otter, I cut corners by using the standard materials and not making super clean models--I'm normally a low-poly modeller and crank out solid meshes--in my 3d sketch it's a bunch of primitives with just a few modifications. I know the tools pretty well, which helps a lot, and the fact that I've got a fast machine doesn't hurt either
