alffla's new SB; starting over harder faster stronger!
OLD CRAP SB ( although i still suck SO BAD ) is here : http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...=128500&page=7
so i started an SB over at CA a while back, and then i got lazy to take photos / scan and update that..
also started studying at SCAD but i think i'm going to quit because its a piece of crap thats putting me in debt and although i learned a little about colours and composition and some stuff.. well anyway yea screw (most) art schools i guess..
anyway i've been wrking at my art constantly still but still been too scared to do things from imagination and still imo not practicing as hard and as much as i could be..
FROM NOW ON, AT LEAST 4 UPDATES PER WEEK (just cuz scanning and stuff is a bitch :> )
ANYWAY WHATEVER TO START OFF MY NEW SB AND A NEW START HERE ARE A BUNCH OF SPs AND RANDOM STUFF THAT I DID
need to get fraeking good no matter what! gotta stay positive!

two self portraits for today
was pretty happy with the second one, tried to be more painterly (applied strokes more confidently, thought about it before putting down the pen and chose values carefully.)
gotta do a colour one for the next SP!
time for more studies now 8D

I can see quite a bit of progress from the first few portraits to the last one.
Your values are neater and less harsh.
One thing that I noticed is that you tend to flatten down faces quite a bit.
In the latest one the features still look they are drawn from front view, even though the shapes indicate otherwise.
When painting eyes try to think of them as balls in the skull first so the placement and overall shape doesn't get lost.
Hope that helps

@Kelar thanks for the crit and long comment! hmm maybe that is true, i still suck at everything and faces! i'm not sure where exactly you noticed that i flattened faces down, but might be because i have a typical chinese face with less deep brows? i'm not sure but if you think there's something wrong there might be something wrong and i gotta work on it! i will look out for this mistake.
argharghrag need to pracftice more heads nad eyes and try to learn the structure and stuff of evertyhing!
here's just two portrait studies i've done / started
