    More rendering.
I finally started dealing with the background and some lighting (while ignoring the character almost completely ;P)

So many good entries, forgive me if I forget some1.

RobPowell Looking forward to seeing some colours in there. 1 thing is bothering me tough, the upper bulge of the dragon's neck ''S'' appears to be over-inflated.

    Si_Swe
I love how you placed his eyes in his nostrils, also the dark-red chunks of whatever on his skin make for an interesting texture.

Ironbyte I think you have a solid wip going on there (values/composition), want to see more.

QuinnSimoes Nice concept! Very distinctive, you've also established a nice sharpness/focus. However, I wish we could see more of the rider.

Landylachs Love the composition for the illustration.

Janjager I love the point of view you chose to illustrate in your wips, very dynamic. Also, some nice texturing on that b/w dragon head.

Wizo5454 I like the concept...very unusual. Value-wise the image is also very well balanced. Lookign forward to see your final.

Silken I like the girl, I think the issue with the front leg is that the ''elbow'' is too high. Either that or the forearm is too big for the width of the torso.

SeanMcclain I totally dig the way you paint. That,s a very promising concept. May I ask what brushes do you use?

Revidescent I think you beat everyone here in terms of studies/concept exploration. Looking forward to see your final.

derekdedgell Awesome illustration, can we see more of the rider ?

sozo I've got a big soft spot for post-apocalyptic stuff so I'm afraid I can't say anything objective about your image

Alright so here is a Wip / character sheet. Decided to go for something more traditional.

Rob Powell- looks awsome. I have some issues with the girl's right arm though.

Nickpops- indeed! lots left to do ^^. I like the dragon's head. but I think the riders head should be behind it.

Raavin- digging the background. front paw seems a bit awkwardly placed. also shouldnt we see some of the girl's other leg?

Tea of doo- traditinal is good; the backdrop is great too, but it all feels a bit out of balance with the horizon tipped. the front leg attaches to the body abit problematically too. still, looks nice.

Gulldur- looks great! love the light; maybe the dark could be even darker. also, harder to fix, I have trouble reading the 3d shape of the head.

so, I have no idea if I'll make it. but it's starting to shape up. no char sheet yet though!

I pretty much have all of those as well, but I tend to do most of my work with a chalk brush and semissoft roundbrush..

I can see that, I just took a quick browse through your sketchbook. If I may be brutally honest though it looks like you kind of use them to conceal the fact that your foundations (mostly anatomy) are not super strong. If you for instance look at Jaime Jones' work, he does the same thing with texture and the 'illustration' look, but he has very strong foundational skills to back it up.

That said, I like what you do but it could be a lot better if you keep off the brushes for a while and just study figures and gestures. Just my two cents, all in good spirits of course

unicornmadness: yours really pops out to me! I love anything goofy and fun, so I adore those characters you've created, I really want to see them done I agree w/ going with the girl, she's awesome
Thanks a lot! And thanks for the advice
I sadly didn't had the time to render the dragon and character properly due to homework and stuff. I'll really need to start earlier next time..

I turning point in the life of every member of the Mixtli tribe is their first flight with their bonded dragon.

Of course any criticism will be taken in the nicest possible way for any who have time to give it.

Kafka Dreams Proportion issues. Head is too large. Arms would only be straight if she were leaning back. Arms of wings aren't bulky enough. bg is too saturated.

Xeinnex: Yeah they (she, Eofn) changed the deadline; see post #251

I decided to ditch the previous versions, it was too static.
Started a new one, but can't finish it in time. Ah well, maybe next round...
Great stuff all around, very inspirational. So thanks all of you.

This was supposed to be Harrko the Mighty and the Great, slayer of Kings and mighty skywarrior. A very unusual dwarf in that he not only prefers the life above ground in stead of living under huge amounts of rock, but he takes it one step further.
The dragon Khazim is not so much a steed as a friend, that allows Harrko to ride him on occasion, to roam the countryside, looking for fiends or other evils they can engage. . .
