These are old Wolverine's and Wolverine related sketches from over the years. Most of them are in Super Sculpey, a couple are Paperclay. Thanks for looking.

Ok one Hulk Vs Juggy
This is the original sculpt of the Bowen Wolverine bust we co-sculpted with Randy.
armature for bust, looks like paperclay
Ok for the fans out there this is the first comic book character ever sculpted by either Brandon or I, even before the howling Wolverine (which is usually called the firtst because it is in sculpey). It's a terra cotta /water based clay over coathangers Colossus. We re-created the exact same scenario later in Sculpey which was Colossus holding Wolverine back from going to fight the Juggernaut, while ripping off his shirt. Basically us reliving the bar fight scene classically illustrated by John Romita around issue 172.

The howling Wolverine, first piece of white Sculpey we baked and painted. If you ever wondered what did the Shiflett Bros first stuff look like, this is it.

WOW! Amazing work guys! Thanks for showing the early stuff. More artist should do that. I find it very inspirational. It shows it's not just talent but also it takes a lot of work and practice to create such dynamic and powerful artwork.

These are so rad. It's amazing to see the progression of the character's design over time and the sculpts. Thanks for posting this.

Thanks y'all. It is kind of funny to show the super old stuff, Brandon hates it but I think it does help to show the progression of what a sculptor goes through.
All our products are now up on Amazon except the bronzes, which will be up soon. This is a link to our DVD and if you search Shiflett Brothers everything comes up. Thanks Amazon people!

Cool stuff Jarrod, except for one or two they're all instantly recognisable as Shiflett Bros work.
Were the bookend ever produced?
April 6th, 2012 #8
Thanks man. The bookends were never produced, we were told ' they were'nt doing anything' , I cant even remember what company.
This is an old Sabretooth bust that we did for Bowen and it was not accepted by Marvel because of the long hair I think. Anyway a friend had it for about ten years and we got it back and fixed it up quite a bit. Starts at $1
