I'd like to paste some pages from my comic, if that okay...

I recently finished the third chapter/issue/whatever of my ongoing comic...thing, "The Shuttered City"

Guess I'd like to get some feedback on it.

I'm posting the pages in sequential order, so that it makes some kind of coherent sense, but it has the unfortunate side-effect of me putting my worst foot forward, as the better pages come later in the issue. Well, that's really for ya'll to judge, not me.

I suppose I'll post the art for the whole issue if there's enough interest. Lemme know what you think.

Oh, and I haven't added gutters yet. Going to do that digitally when I add the word balloons.

Would this be better in critique center?

    I'm honestly asking.

I not sure if I like the drawing style, I'm 50/50.... but I do like the traditional medium and the overall dark tone.

Is it the "Style" or the execution that you don't find appealing? I've had a consistency problem for a long time on this project that I'm only now getting over; lots of problems with melty faces and poorly defined facial expressions.

Of course none of that matters if it's the actual character design that's a problem.

Anyway, thanks for your comment. I'll probably post a few more pages later today.

I'd try and explain what's going on here, but it's so bizarre I'll just let the reader/viewer interpret it for now.

I remember wondering how I was going to do deal with this scene tastefully...then I gave up and just drew it.

Check out Scott Mc Cloud' s books

    http://scottmccloud.com/2-print/1-uc/index.html

Its got a dark feel to it like Sevans pointed out. Keep going, stay passionate about it. You can tell you are an artist who creates because it makes you feel good.

    Thats a good thing

I read Understanding Comics many years ago. Never bought a copy but basically thumbed through in several sessions at the bookstore. I recall finding many of the principles inside interesting at the time, but there was such a gap of time between reading it and starting The Shuttered City that I don't know if any information was usefully retained.

Thanks for the encouraging words, though I'm not sure if I'm so much "passionate" as extremely stubborn. It does make me feel good when a page really comes together, and that's been happening a lot more lately. I sort of feel obligated to correct some of my more egregious mistakes in issues 1 and 2. I look at them and see how far I've come, and I'm kind of amazed...and also embarrassed at the older work...

I agree with the guys, it has kind of a dark atmosphere, very nice! Although, not my type of comic.

Couple more. This is where the comic really goes off the rails.

    Thumbs up

As an avid comic reader, I really like it!
I sense a particular atmosphere and your style too is very imaginative and suggestive.

    You have a client already

Why thank you sir! Comments like that really mean a lot to me.

It's been a long walk getting the comic to this state, and when I look back at the first issue I see how far I've come.

Encouraging words keep me energized to keep going and make it even better.

I'll post a few more pages later tonight. Thanks again!

These couple are a little weak, I think. Kinda lost my stride after the attic scene, but I think I picked it back up towards the end of the issue.
