Hobo's Sketch Box - Crit till I bleed!

Been a while since I came onto this site, and have recently been drawing again. Figured it was time to record drawings as I did them to track improvements and also to get some crits on my biggest flaws. IMPROVEMENT HO!!!

The posts here will vary from sketches, speed paints, stuff I actually took time on, and random gift/fan art. Just posting a bunch to get things started, and will work off that.

nice linework and that banner thing is cool, my advice would be to work more on painting, specifically showing the forms clearer and more accurate values, hope it helps .

I've been working on speed paints mostly, trying to get my speed and confidence in form up.

This next image is actually massive. Was a commission for someone.

Ugh, that face is creepy as hell. I will probably work on re-doing it.

    Hey hobo lyra!

Nice work so far. I really like your stylized "dinosaur" (excuse me if it's not a dinosaur - I am not that much into creature stuff).
To push your stuff onto the next level you need to get a better understand how stuff really looks like.
Set up a few still lifes and get them as close as possible. You don't need to put much details in it. You just need to get their essence so they look real.
Details don't lead to realism, even though some people think that.
You could also check out "Ville_S"' sketchbook. He's a perfect example for simplyfing stuff and still making them look realistic.

    Cheers!

Yes draw a shit ton of still lifes. Not because your stuff is crap, but because it's necessary in general. You can render pretty well, but it looks like there's little comprehension on how the things you're drawing actually work.
