    ChoW#281 :: SIN

    Character of the Week #281
    SIN

Create a design for ONE of the Seven Deadly Sins

    DEADLINE: SUNDAY 25th MARCH 9PM GMT+1 (8PM GMT)
    Check your timezone!

This week your challenge is to create a new version of ONE of the Seven Deadly sins: Lust, Wrath, Sloth, Greed, Gluttony, Pride and Envy.

Your designs can be from any era, be any gender, they don't even have to be human, although we would like them to remain humanoid. The key thing to remember will be making it clear which Sin your character represents.

For bonus points, include an animal/creature companion that best suits the nature of the sin. This is not a must, so don't worry about having to include it.

    The Guidelines:
    • Can be any gender
    • Can be any style or genre
    • Does not need to be human, but does need to be humanoid
    • Must clearly show the Sin you have chosen
    • Choose only ONE of the Sins
    • BONUS: Include a creature companion

    THE RULES
In addition to the brief, if you do not follow these rules, you will not be included in the poll.
    • Files must be named: CHoW#281_Username
(Files with any other names such as final.jpg or even chow281final.jpg will not be accepted)
    • Finals must be posted in the finals thread BEFORE the deadline
    • Final post must include the CHoW number and the artists username at the bottom of the image
    • At least 3/4 of the focus character must be visible
    • Final images must be accompanied with a basic character sheet in a separate image
Character sheets should at the very least show a sketch of the front and back of the character and a couple of early thumbnails/silhouettes.
    • Follow the brief!

I may jump in on this one...and by may I mean may cuz I don't seem to keep my promises too often outside of cow...
I have a few ideas though, thinking either sloth or gluttony

Art is not about competing against others and being better than everyone else, but it is about competing against yourself and discovering your greatest potential!

A new Wrath scribble, I deleted the other one, my tired mind doesn't have "post every thought" control
I thought a whip and a sickle best captured the nasty weaponry someone like Wrath might carry. Still need to think about the bottom half, and I feel like I need something to make him more terrible.http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1332158472

    Trying some colours...
@Pixeltuner - I like yours, though it seems a little more like greed ATM (what with all the pearl necklaces and jewellery)
I sort of feel like I want to try one of the more challenging ones, pride or envy for example.

I might redo the face and get a bit more barely contained rage in there.http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1332178368

Guys, how big are your canvases? Pixel wise? Because I feel like I was fumbling with extremely little space....
Here's my first take on Greed, I have to make him more greedy though

Pride = vanity so that's why I put those jewels etc. in. Showing off etc. There are some things associated with pride like a snake (original sin), jewels and devils holding mirrors (in this case a bloaty slave, you can't have someone prettier than you be around..), that's why I put them all in.It's a bit of modern take on the classic portraying of the theme.

little update, some colours and face fixing.

edit: I guess her head should be bigger. Will fix. :p

Tawnos you can work on whatever size you want, but you have to rezise it before upload.

    I usually work around 3000 - 5000 px 300dpi

I usually start with 3000x3000 and 300dpi then I crop once I have something I like (which means I'm not restricting myself too much). But I have a hella-tiny screen 13 inch, which would be a glorious length for other things, not a screen though.

not sure if I'll settle on this for my final concept but it's a start, wanna use the widemouth frog to symbolize gluttony in some way...might end up making this guy with more human features, like he's mutated into a gluttonous frog demon, or something like that...
