thread bump plus a question: are we taught how to stretch canvas in the summer school or is that not really important? I guess I'm concerned about the art supplies (I already know it's generally cheaper and NOT a good idea to bring your own)

    Pwwka,

Actually, this is what they'll be doing tomorrow, during an Organizational Day. First we have a tour in the Academy and its museum, then we have a coffee break and then we go to a famous Sokolov Workshop where they'll be doing exactly what you've mentioned. Then they'll come back there on Monday at 10.00 to start studying.

No, you don't need to bring ANY art supplies except your lucky pencil. I'll be making photos, so I plan to make several at the nearest art supplies store to give a clear idea what is available.

Another great news, we'll have not one but TWO excellent professors, one will be teaching drawing and another one painting. Again, I'll make sure we'll have enough photos to cover all the details about this program.

And... thank you for a thread bump!

There was a sign on the Academy building, “Free Arts”. “What’s that?”, we asked our professor. – “That’s to be able to create anything, but to create what you want to.”

I'm still looking for the painting professor's work, Tchugunov, in the post from the other thread that the school has, if his stuff is up there with the painting faculty pics. The painting faculty pics start around post 143 and I found a impromptu faculty pic of all of them there during a evaluation. I also saw some of the paintings had numbers on them, are they getting "graded"?

    Pwwka,

Sorry for delay, too busy with a Summer School...

    I think you're confused a little bit.
The link you're referring to is all about Evaluations of all departments that happens in January and May of each year. The grades that you see there is an average grade for student based on his overall performance during semester and evaluation of his best works.

I'm not sure I can locate artworks by Professor Tchugunov at this time (I'll try doing this a little later). But I can tell you for sure that our students adore him.

    BookGuru, you're back!
Oh! makes sense about the numbers then, professors getting graded themselves would be odd. I forgot to ask but who is the drawing professor for the summer school?

Me too, i'm real interested as to how it's going so far.

Also, is there anywhere or anyway we may see Mr Tchugunov's and Mr Dantchev's work? As always thanks!
