More of those people that do shit like randomly throw paint against a canvas through one form or another and lo and behold it's art.

At least make a conscious effort, hell this guy isn't even the one doing the sex. Lazy son of a....

I actually kind of like it. It's more visually and conceptually interesting than a lot of abstract art nowadays.

I dig it too. Pretty damn sexy, actually, plus a brilliant marketing strategy. The guy'll make a motza.

And really, this could be step two of an artist relationship after "Take off your clothes! I'm an artist!" @:-D

I used to accidentally get pain on my hand without knowing and then realise the paint is on the door handle, the fridge, the remote, my laptop and on a book. Maybe this area of accidental misuse should be considered art too? All I needed was a camera to capture the moment

Heck the problem is not him, the problem is there are people stupid enough to buy his stuff and stupid enough to pay for a weekend in a hotel with paint.

He's not claiming to be some kind of high artist (as far as this article goes to say anyways). He just thought of an idea he thought would be interesting. It worked. Now he's going to make some money off of it. That's how all businesses start. It's pointless to judge whether he's a "True Artíst", because a) that's petty, and b) that's not the point of any of it.

Meh, I don't know. I actually do like the concept and the results are interesting, but I wouldn't want one in my house (be awkward to explain to visitors) and it's just a bit... Simple, I guess. Makes me feel bad about how hard so many artists have to work to get by and this guy is probably making tons of money doing practically nothing. Though I guess that's how the world works, lol.

I dont like this, the guy hasn't actually done anything apart from get people to have sex in his house. I could wipe my painted meat and veg on a canvas too and get a similar effect. Although I've never been a fan of Jackson Pollock type, splashy about art.

    I like it.

And honestly it sounds like fun, I wana try it. You could hang it up on a wall and be like "yeah, this is us having sex". I bet anyone looking at it would start to get grossed out a little, even though its just some paint on card/canvas it brings with it all the mental images of people ****ing. I think that could be very funny/creepy if you knew the people who made it personaly. Imagine looking at one your parents made? Imagine seeing your conception on the wall in paint!

I dont get worked up about this sort of art and it having very little in terms of skill. Its all about the concept and the thought behind the painting. It doesnt matter who puts the paint down or even wether it looks good.

If you didn't spend 30 hours rendering it then it's not art! A rule to live by.

It will probably also gross people out a little if you collect all of your fingernails and paste them onto a canvas in some shape. Or if you pull out a full tampon during your period and paint with that (which I believe has already been done), or if you're a guy jerking off and ejaculating over a canvas and then outline the splattering. If grossing people out or making something that's creepy is all it takes to make art, then that's rather easily done, really.

A sex painting is like freezing a moment in time and keeping it alive, I think it could be seen as a bit gross but its gross on a deeper level than painting a picture with a tampon. A picture with a used tampon is gross in such a one dimensional way there is little point to it.

The only goal here is to get media attention.

The people on this thread are contributing to the success of this idiotic work of cultural bullshit.

Stop gawking and start yawning. Otherwise you will get more of the same from other media whores looking to attract your eyeballs.

No, I'm not joking. This is a war for attention in the marketplace. You are either a producer or a consumer in this relationship. And every time you gawk, you become a consumer of their asinine product.
    At least Icarus tried!

Don't knock the artist/artisan divide, some of us have to make a living!

Although this particularly body of work looks significantly more fun to make compared to dropping bits of old cutlery into smelly resin or sculpting milk-bottle-tops...

LOL, the world is already crammed full of "media whores looking to attract your eyeballs".

The guy will get his 15 minutes of fame then everyone will move on to other stuff, there's no point fighting it.
