Hey peoples, thought id finally just start a sketchbook instead of worrying. Fingers crossed its off to study illustration this year, so i need all the eyes i can get. Also- thanks, to the artists on this site, im always so impressed by so much of the work i see here and the progress made, hopefully i'll get there.
Anyways, working on this, kinda self portrait, still gettin used to a tablet n PS, feels good tho.
Hey, thanks Immortal Cintiq for stopping by, glad you think its an ok start, finding this public showing a bit scary!
I got an offer from Norwich-NUCA , just gotta knuckle down, get the grades and hope im not blown out of the water when i get there
Been a bit busy last few days, managed to find the time for a Liv Tyler study (sort of- will sort the eye out later). Final major proj. starting next week so hopefully more stuff then!
Hey thanks for visiting Blazin0Glory
Havent updated because i havent done that much, been
working etc etc, but hoping to get more practice in.
Yeah immortal, you get a loan over here if you qualify so we're lucky with that, but yeah i figured id have to do alot myself. I dont know what the briefs will be like but im gonna try to bend them around what i feel i need to learn (if that makes any sense). See how it goes.
The first two images are illustrations to go with the song
'echoes' by pink floyd. Not that happy with them, the sea one is crude. Didnt use any reference.
I did use some textures from CGTextures.com and some photos i took in london. I also looked at the video 'crystal voyager'.
Last images are made mainly from photo's. Enjoying playing around with photo's for these images.
Need to spend more time doing observational bits.

Yeah, I got some student loans myself. I suppose the US and the UK is not too different in that respect.
The problem over here is the ridiculous amount they charge. Tuition at SVA is about $25,000 a year, or 16,000 pounds (converted the amount on google). And thats on the cheaper side. My cousin goes to calarts.. and pays 40,000 a year!!
Ahh well, enough negativity. I suppose you can laugh at us poor American students over the Atlantic. =D
Anyhow I like the futuristic building concept. I can see your sensitive about the different planes on the 2 figures. Perhaps one sugesstion i might have with that is to draw the figures "like glass".. more 3d construction lines may solidify the figure more.
Keep bustin out the studies, Can't let the young people Win!!
the grass is always greener! id love to study in the states, got family there, just never really considered it to be a realistic option. Unless i won a lottery maybe..
Thanks for the advice on the figures. I sat down today and made some more sketches, paying more attention to construction as opposed to just trying to copy what i see. Got a couple of books to look at.
I do try to re create what i see too much (if that makes sense). I think i need to just reference more, and rely on construction to make it correct, and not a copy (what am i saying?)
Gonna try to draw parts of myself tomorrow, i think it'll be easier to relate to 3d. Maybe a still life.
Either way i got a tiny bit better today. More tomorrow, hopefully.
havent had much time last few days.
Started painting into this. Going to abandon because i dont really know what im doing.
If anyone has any advice for snow and rocks that would be awesome. Also, if anyone could recomend a good colour theory book that would be beyond awesome.
