Hi Pavol and welcome to ca!
Yes this is definitely the right place to improve your skills! I’m a newbie myself and am just about to learn the basics. I’ll pass on some of the good advice that I got.
Start studying Loomis figure drawings. That will give you the right proportions and perspective of the body.

Here you can practice your sketching and work quickly or take your time. I think that in the beginning it’s more important to get the proportions and perspective in order than to draw quickly.
It made me just confused to draw in 30 seconds, and it also felt disappointing to not get the lines in order. So when I make those drawings I take more time getting it done. http://lovecastle.org/draw/

This tutorial has given me a good start getting those body sketches flowing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmiwG...el_video_title

I think you have started of nicely. Just keep going, everything is possible!

Are you constructing these heads or do you start the final drawing right away?
Because it looks like you struggle with the position of the features, especially eyes. Also, try to make them look less elliptical. You should try to think of eyes as balls that peek through a hole in the skin instead of circles floating in an ellipse. You also tend to make the eyes too close together. At front view, the head is 5 eyes wide and there's a little more than 1 eye space between the 2 eyes.
Technically I think you could work on your shading. Try to blend it out more evenly or use uniform crosshatching etc.

    I hope this helps

Newest work done to participate in PMC on 3DTotal That was quite a challenge to model this poly by poly technique instead of using displacement map or sculpting. there are parts which need some more hardnsess, but im lazy to add supporting edges and play with smoothing groups. C&C are welcome!!!

I am not a 3d modeller so there isnt a lot i can say about the 3d stuff, but drawing wise I would suggest studying the fundamentals-perspective,2 copying and measuring, values, consturction and composition.
if you study these things your 3d will improve also.

Update time Had some fun with the concept modeling for the SMC on 3DTotal.
And some head sculpt. I tried to make more soft transitions from bone areas to others, also i tried to work on lower sub levels as i was adviced.

FUCK YEAH. your modeling skills are rad. the stormtrooper made me smile and touch myself in strange darthvader'iesk ways. the dyson at top is also banging.
i study industrial design and working in maya and rhino, and wanted to start with z-brush but couldn't really get a workflow and interface scared me (alltough it's beautiful
makes me think about painting less, and revisit the models i've been working on.
you working with nurbs also? some models you do, seem to be perfectly suited for nurbs-workflow. =)
    best, l.

Thank for you comments guys, I really appretiate it.
lupre- Yea Zbrush seems really complicated, thats why im sculpting with Mudbox And i barely use nurbs in my workflow, maybe i should use them sometimes. But i dont think that 3ds max is that nurbs-oriented as rhino. I prefer classic polygonal SubD modeling But i could use spline techniques instead, hm..now im thinking man, need to practise that

JO! pretty decent design of the duct-hole. also the wooden barrel looks good. i had so much trouble during my prae-diploma, when trying to texture my piece in maya. suddenly mental ray finished to work. like 2weeks before finishing.. i had to render the second part of the animation with software-render settings. thinking about it gives me the creeps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2TKXOvXB2E.
building with nurbs can be sometinmes really cool, as it goes fast and clean if you know what you doing, but i'm also not the best in it. should practise more. like just building a giraffe or rabbit for the sake of it..

I'm not much of a 3D kid (Maya makes me want to tear off all my skin) but that render of Rowan Atkenson (spelling?) Cracked me up!! A+ for sure.
I think you've got some good textures happening, might need a bit more exploring on the lighting. - for example your ants on the branch- the lighting seems all yellow/white and quite high specular. That gives you lots of pure white bits. An ant might have a pure white highlight, but a tree probably wont.
The most recent CG work has some crazy good texturing - gives you an excuse to watch lots of cartoons !

heh, thank you for you comment, i appretiate it!! You are right with the lighting, im not very ogood at it:/..About the specular- as the branch is the dielectric material, it should be white. Diffuse color of Conductor materials on the other is affecting its spec. Mabye the BG is too tinted yellow (like with photo filter- then the FG should be also), and id like to watch cartoons but they are way too early in the morning, so i prefer sleep lol

And a little update, sculpt from yesterday!!
