    Wilson's Digital Sketchbook

I am 24 years old and I've taken some art classes at the community college and now I'm looking to get a little more serious as an artist. Please, feel free to critique.

Hey Wilson, You need to work on your line control. They seem very scratchy and hesitant. Great start, keep drawing!

That's a good painting you have there. The neck length are a bit off (as well as a few smaller things), but that's easily fixable and forgivable. Your grasp of lighting is quite good, especially on her right (our left) side of the body.

Practice cleaner lines in your sketches, as well. A solid foundation is helps with the creative process.

And welcome to CA.org. Learn well.

Sidenote: Have you done any reading outside of what your college instructors have tasked you to? CA.org has a great list/section 'bout it.

@ ArtsySiridean Yes I completely agree, I learned how fundamental drawing was when I took my first painting class.

I'm doing research on gestures for animation and i would like to put that knowledge into my figure paintings. I've read "Drawing on the Right side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards and I'm about to start "The Natural Way to Draw" by Kimon Nicolaides and "Gesture Drawing for Animation" by Walt Stanchfield.

I will definitely checkout the CA list.

Hopefully with enough practice the ring width will get smaller.
