That 50 characters/poses idea is solid. I'm going to have to try it out myself. Your studies are looking really good. I'm probably going to steal those head/cage/pelvis studies as well, haha. Keep up the good work!

@Art Minded: I don't mind and I hope that you'll give me a link to your sketchbook when you create it so I can see your studies
@Ramalooke: No problem and thanks
2 more gestures and an animation (not rendered yet) that exhausted me like hell, I have to get used to animating.

Sketchy hud + new monster mockup
March 19th, 2012 #35
really liking the game hud! and orc gif! I think drawing of your characters from side to side 3/4ths back and front would be good practice! keep it up!

@iamkennstan: thanks man
I made it to 20 already, cool me
And I also will participate in this week's Teen Challenge, the topic is Survival of the Fittest. So after a while of thinking I drew a little sketch for a good start.

I hope to do at least one more unit for the game and some posemaniacs gestures today, probably won't gonna make it
March 21st, 2012 #38
Eh, got lazy after this and I won't force myself (and I don't want to force myself) to practice on posemaniacs today. Hopefully tomorrow ^^

keep it going with the studies if u want to praktisch anatomy you should look for George B. Bridgeman or loomis they have intresting studies and tried to make it with basic shapes
Every critique helps me to get on step closer towards my dream so feel free to
March 22nd, 2012 #40
Thanks, but I think that I will stick with the system I'm currently using to learn for a while at least
New challenge (so there'll be 2 already!) 50 silhouettes, I did 11 atm, 10 in 2 minutes each, the first one took a little longer I think. All this to practice painting with mark.

Guy No. 11 looks like he's got his right arm badly broken and dislocated. I dig the game designs though.
March 22nd, 2012 #42
Right, didn't have time to fix it :/
Kinda finished that crappy illustration, maybe it wouldn't suck so hard if I'd know how to draw backgrounds
March 22nd, 2012 #43
Crappy illustration made me demotivated for almost whole day and now I tried to draw 5 more characters, but the second one was going so hard, I had to redraw every part thousands of times and I lost my last drops of motivation

I like gal 26 the best (the dwarf looks OK, but the blonde guy has an arm a bit too long and straight?).
March 24th, 2012 #45
Thanks, and u're right ofc
Eh, I've wrenched my wrist so it was really painful to draw (and this is to type) (
Some crappy bird knight, drew this to notice that I suck at everything ^^
It's not finished ofc, but I won't finish it anyway so

Okay, my first serious try at outfit design, from imagination, new 'technique', attached process, maybe it'll be easier to criticize or give advice. Forgot to make steps between body lineart and final piece
(but I just blocked in the robe, then the vest, shaded them a little bit, added some belts and a haversack, then rendered everything a little more)

Nice to see youve gone back to the basics man Hope it helps you out.
I like your studies which look drawn on old paper, the texture brings it to life a bit better, mabye try adding some to your other drawings.

Now I'll have to work on my rendering and color (i picked them by myself, not via color picker from the photo) skills, will do a set of photo studies like this:
(no sketch/lineart, just mark)
March 27th, 2012 #49
Not much to say except keep on doing what your doing, I like the last piece!

Thanks ezekrialase , I can't draw atm and won't be able to for at least one week (right hand in a plaster) but I found a great article about drawing what you see, not what you think you see (symbolic representation of reality)
make sure to check it out!

Hey there, thanks for dropping by my SB.
If it's poses you need did you check out
There's even a 30sec timer so you can force yourself to draw REALLY quickly, but be warned, that's really tiring.
Something else you can do is just drop into a movie, like starwars, LotR or whatever and just pause at random or in the midst of the action.
Just draw the poses and figures and maybe pay some attention to the layout of the picture as well.
Dynamic sports are a nice source of poses as well, tennis for example.
Keep it up.

Just don't go too crazy with posemaniacs as they aren't entirely accurate.
I'd like to see you start working on colour, start doing some still life studies, they are easy to set up, a couple of items of varying colour and texture and you're ready to roll. Your colours at the moment are looking very dull and desaturated.
April 5th, 2012 #53
@shockwaffel: about the posemaniacs, I'm following my friend's advice and don't use it, instead I use real ppl's photos, more accurate, mostly artsyposes.com and a great website with timer that I forgot >.>
The idea of drawing stills from a movie sounds great, I'll have to try it with Game of Thrones
Hmm, right, seems like I should practice colours, right now I'm doing it too (since I don't use color picker) but more color-focused study could be useful too. Will try with still life

It seems to me that you're interested in game design, maybe in particular- character design. I say study "lots" of anatomy and perspective. Every artist should know perspective. It's required in my opinion. imagination comes after basics are learned. Seems to be the title of your thread-- it's all good. Keep practicing!! it will pay off. Yea create a daily art schedule to make yourself proud!

@poetry man: I'll try to dig more into perspective... I really will... I hope I will soon ._____.
Whole day spent with my family, kinda angry at myself for no more hard will to draw more than this (it's 3 AM here) but I think it's normal, have to start drawing earlier tomorrow (family activities, hell yeah)
This was actually extremely hard compared to yesterday's one, and it looks worse, haha I love art
wrong skin tone ((
April 9th, 2012 #57
Didn't have much time to draw lately, family, holidays...
