    Ghent Altarpiece

I diddled a little in my pants when I found this site through Lines and Colors. I will make a pilgrimage to see this someday.

Okay, that is cool... I was just recently browsing one of my art books on Van Eyck and feeling frustrated because I couldn't see the details on this... So yeah. Awesome.

(And yes, would be amazing to see in real life.)

Okay, now I'll need a change of underwear as well.

    Breathtaking!

Somewhat related, Wikipedia has the highest res version of Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights that I've yet seen.

    Ah yes, the Mystic Lamb...

Take a good look at the lower left panel, the 'Just Judges'. If you come across something much like this - in your attic, the backside of a board in your wardrobe... Call your local Belgian embassy.

Site on the Theft of the Just Judges

This is the most famous theft in all of Belgian history, with people still looking for the lost panel up to this day. So many clues, theories and stories have been thrown around, books have been written, holes have been drilled.... you name it. All that's missing now is another Indiana Jones movie...
    (Why? Because nazis!)

Wow, that is truly really fascinating! The pleasant colors, the weird texture, those genital looking plants, naked people and bizarre creatures. Definitely one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen.

I remember seeing this in a shitty picture in an art history book before and it didn't make much of an impression. But this is GOLD!

Wow, I've never seen such a high res version of this! Thanks so much. Bosch was one of the most creative artists in history.

Jacob, this is Jan van Eyck. Understandable confusion.

No. What I was quoting was the Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymous Bosch.

    Quoted again:
