Thumbs up What is best for portfolio's?

Just a quick question of what is the best peices of artwork for a portfolio, I am going to need one for a college interview you might think it doesn't matter that much as its only college but as I don't have a GCSE in art (huge mistake :/ ) I really want to make a good impression. Any comments, tips or help will be much appreciated.

The fewer the better, include only your very best work and some looking good studies. This if you're trying to impress... take with you at least 10 pieces btw.

Art schools generally frown upon manga from my experience. I do know people in my program who use a manga-like style for assignments, but for a portfolio they showed life drawings and other things that show their skills. I would advise to leave any manga out unless your style is very good and original.

it depends on the school. for example otis wants to see more observational pieces such as still life work while mica generally prefers more personal, creative pieces. Asking an admissions councilor for the specific school would be best.
