Lots of goodness in here Sammy... recently I have started keeping a small notebook sketching with pen and I always find your works inspiring and your tumbnailings are always so great. Congrats on your job! I hope you have a nice time ahead : )

Holy Shit those thumbnails kickass, must disagree with you on your plane ride capabilities. Do you have something in mind before hand or do you just break up space and see where it takes you??

and here I thought you disappeared from the forums (no more posting in the New Media Coloring book for a while)

Man if I had a portfolio like yours when I gradumakated SCAD i'd have a job ASAP. If you havent found one by now then there really is no hope for any of us.

was that Smellybug sculpture done for Paul Hudson's class? Did he jizz himself when he saw it?

    Help

Hey dude . . . I'm sure you;ve been asked this before, but, frankly, I was far too lazy to look through all the post to find out, lol, but, dude, how'd you get so damn good? And where'd you go to school? 'cause I wanna go there. I mean, I landed a job with a media productions company fresh out of high school (being this summer), but looking around here, I'm far under-qualified. I mean, any advice of anything? oh, and you're 'Dune' stuff is right on man . . . you need to get that into production; your art is enough. Yeah, but where do you go for that kind of experience, discipline and technique-training? I just started college, like two days ago, but I'm looking change from a film productions major, to just art. yeah, well, thanks man. Pleasure, just lookin' at your stuff.

AmishCommy: Ya found where I escaped off to, I never got a chance to take Pauls class, I wish I had... I mostly just hung out over there. I got them to help me out with the armature, and give me some tips on what tools to use.

DoubleEdgeArtist: Art is like anything else that takes practice, it needs to be done constantly ... The most profound pianists practice 14 hours a day on the piano, think of how that applies to visual medias .... the Professionals that run this site draw at least 10 hours a day, no wonder they're so good.
I went to SCAD in Savannah Georgia, I sat down one day and listed out all of my heroes... it turns out that the majority of them had taken, or were considered Industrial Designers (Craig Mullins, Doug Chaing, Scott Robertson, George Lucas, Miyamoto, Ryan Church, etc...) so I went into that field.....
and art/rendering is really only about 15% of industrial design, but the flexability of the course and the focus more on theory really helped to get a grip of design.
Find out what your heroes took, and look into their footsteps.

Wow, amazing painting... I reallllly need to learn how to do that stuff. One crit, I don't think those white/red neon signs on the left do anything for it.. or they just haven't been meshed in enough.

Thanx guys, I'm happy the paint is readable. I donno how many layers I use since I continually flatten something like this.... I took a different approach to it than I normally do treating it as if it was a thumbnails and painting rather tiny.

Thanx for the kick in the pants Rusty, all this getting arround and drawing different subjects is often just and excuse for me to not draw humans.... 'cause honestly I don't like to draw humans, haha
We all need a kick in our weaker subject matter every now and then tho... lucky for me, few character artists are ever told to try out mechanical stuff
If i can find some reference shots with some interesting shadow, it can usually get me motivated to draw some peeps...

anyways, I'd better dump these... I'm packin' tomorow and movin' out thursday, and it'll probobly a good 3 weeks 'till I can post something from my new place:

HorTitsSe - You know for a guy who posted only two times with nothing but negative feedback, has shown no art skills, so unless you can backup your pathetic words then please enlighten us, cause right now your helping noone, and I feel like kicking the living shit out of you for insulting Sammy, who's a great artist compare to your mediocre poop that you left behind after pushing out a 2 inch log.

Sorry Sammy for intruding on the thread like this, but he really pissed me off.
