DSG 439: Small vehicle for hauling Ore

DSG 439: Small Vehicle For Hauling Ore

Something that you would see one person driving, moving ore from the mining areas to a collection point. Used when big vehicles cant get into the area. Could be found in space, on earth, whereever. Be creative.

I can't wait to see the works people will come up with for this.. especially the execution of the Ore colors -- will be interesting.

mtomczek, quick observation and don't get me wrong. I think the title "Small vehicle for hauling Ore" is good enough - any other elaboration, explanation might influence people's imaginations... better to keep the title only, and see what people will dig out of their minds.

Shea - That is very nice. To give more of a sense of force and weight, I would tighten the chains and give more of a twist to his upper torso to show the tension on his whole body.

Hi guys, this is my first post on conceptart.org. I've been checking out the last few DSGs and really like this as a concept. However, I don't have my tablet hooked up to this machine yet and I don't have a scanner.

So I made this in 3ds max in about 50 minutes, from idea to finish.

I should probably mention that it pushes with the feet, not pulls forward.

eygji, I love the concept of the big guy riding the tiny bug, towing a tiny cart. I really enjoy the absurdity of the concept.

Wasn't doing anything today, so I spent more time on the DSG.
The idea behind it is that it's a small (about the size of a car) remotely controlled robot that harvests rare ores from areas that traditional mining equipment either can't get in, or be in danger in (like extreme heat, extreme cold, space, etc)
After it seperates the ore from the rock with its cutting lasers, there's a vaccum system on the undersides of its arms to bring the ore to the container behind it.

    Smile First DSG

hey everyone, first post ever on the dsg. My inspiration for this one was deep sea subs like "Alvin". one arm sprays corrosive chemicals onto the bare rock eating away anything but the wanted ore. the larger ore lumps are then grabbed by the grabbing arm and crunched into pieces to be "vaccumed" into the sub by its "mouth", where the ore is then analysed and put into containers, which then are sent to the surface by gas balloons launched by its "chimney".

this took me maybe 15 to draw, and more time to think about it
as you can see I've got some trouble drawing my ideas, if you have any tips on getting an idea from mind to paper please be so kind and share them with me :help:

Edit: i played around and got the scan sorted out (im slowly getting the hand of how to use my computer Also: I'm painting over the sketch if you're inteseted It'll be up in my sketch book either tomorow or the day after, depending on when it's done.

Gumdrop - chapeau! perfect colors, and probbaly you should consider patenting this hauling idea (I'm serious).

Arbiter - I think your idea is cute, very good sense of shading, you did a good job on coloring those ore things - btw did you mean to make it look like crystal?

Shea - can I hire your man as my bodyguard?

eygji - smart and the closeup of the bug shows the detail you had in mind, yet it also revealed a little issue there, the cord is held tight through the bug's mouth, but in the bigger picture the cord seems away from the bug's mouth - just a tiny observation don't mean to be annoying.

Here's my take on this, hope you like it, feedback appreciated.

sOltan - Thank you very much! And yeah, when I think of ore I think of Starcraft, heh.

Gumdrop - Dude, that is gold. I love your work in the DSG, it never fails to amaze.

Sly - The baloon idea is awesome, it's very simple, or rather, subtle, but I'm willing to bet that it would work - and work well.

no prob, not annoying, but it is actually around it's head.now that i think about it i think it should have been in it's mouth.. but oh well.

Seeing as I have run this thing for quiet sometime, and have had to add topics manually since the dsg bot died and davi dissappeared, I think its my decision to add any information I see fit. When you are running things, you can do it how you please.

    topic

    awsome work to all

awsome topic, specificity seems almost necessary considering the number DSG topics invovled, also allows the artist to focus her/his ideas not limit them . . . just a friendly observation

What's going on with the DSG? There hasn't been a new post in days... Is there something I don't know?

I am new here, but as far as I understand, the new topics used to be posted automatically by some kind of programming trick, but this has failed recently - like most programming tricks. In the meantime DSG resorts to human intervention, which is not as automated, but equally appreciated nonetheless. mtomczek is the person to talk to.
