    [3D] Anatomy help needed

    Hello!

This is a first post from a long-time lurker, so hello everyone! I hope I'm posting this in the right place.

Here's my first attempt at a (hopefully) correct male anatomy in Mudbox. It's hard, I've exxagerated a few things to make it more interesting, still, I've hit a wall now. I'm about to retopologize it for rigging but I'm not sure if I got everything right. As always in these cases, it'd be good if someone with a keen eye could look at it. Please do and hit me hard with crits.

    Here we go:

    And a turntable movie:

It's still a bit low poly, so I didn't do extreme details, just the main masses. I also didn't smooth it out completely, since it's going to be retopo'd anyway.

    Thanks for looking and cheers!

Oh, and as for refs, I used mostly http://zygotebody.com. All exaggerations are from imagination, so I pressume most mistakes will be where it's exaggerated the most. I looked at a couple of photos of muscled men, but I can't wrap my head around 3D modelling from photos, I suck at interpreting depth and how they wrap around the body.

not bad. mostly good stuff, but here's a few things to tweak:
shoulder muscle, bicep, and pec relations. find a good anatomy reference (like ecorche or medical illustrations) and see how they overlap. it'll surprise you. his thighs and the back of his thighs are too big, and are big in strange spots. His butt looks very clenched when next to those tree trunks his abs also looked flexed, especially at the bottom. most humans have some saggy stuff going on there. he also seems to have taken some shrapnel to the inner side of his knees.

main thing - look at a reference, and go back over the shoulders and thighs - right now they're too big, beefy, smooth, and need better balance with the rest of the body.

    good luck trooper!

Not too bad, but here is what I see: He has no clavicle, deltoids, pelvis, hardly any traps, and his arms are very short. I also don't understand what is going on with his thighs, they're and his torso are too stocky compared to his lower legs, head and arms.

A book I recommend is ZBrush Digital Sculpting Human Anatomy by Scott Spencer. It's for zbrush but I think it could still apply to mudbox. It's how I learned anatomy even if it is superhero proportions.
