    Uinku's sketchbook! *UPDATE! WIP'S*(as promised)

Wo0t! My first sketchdumo at CA! I was totally sick of the sketching and rendering with the pencil(I won't post them here since they suck too much). So I wanted to do something with color since I was so bad at it and always wanted to avoid it. You'll only see portraits for now since my anatomy skills suck. Sorry for the bad scans, the paintings look alot better IRL (cleaner and a bit lighter).

All was done with gouache and waterproof Indian ink

The front cover of my sketchbook, I tried to protect the painting by putting glue and plastic over it, but I failed....

    back cover.

I know.. Her eye isn't right, I struggled with it alot, but still din't got it right... And the colors got a bit over-saturated when I scanned it...

My contribution for the four horses.. @eatpoo

I failed with this one, not happy with it at all.

This one was done in half an hour or so, and I din't notice that her right eye was a bit too far to the left.

Woo! first time painting a guy!

This painting looked very sloppy, so I slapped in some lines.

Rockin'! I can see art nouveau, art deco, naive art, and loads of other stuff in your pictures. Don't know if it was a conscious decision on your part, and don't really care.

It's really refreshing to see experimental stuff like this.

    keep em comin' fella

Thanks for the comments guys! More will be coming soon! I'm busy making a bracelet for school and a wallet I'm gonna make out of tape. So I'm pretty busy for now. But I'll post pictures when I'm finished!

    TheUbermind: lol

    spok: thanks mate!

    Van: :chug:

Summer pudding: Thanks! All of these are experimental, I get inspired by alot of things and then think of how they would look best, so that may explain the different styles.

Update! It's not really my sketchbook...

I didn't got any time to draw. In place of drawing, I made these(I resized them to 300 pixels, but they're still extremely big ):

A wallet made ALL out of tape, I only used wire and needle, to do the can-things and the button.

    front

    back

    inside

Wristband I made a long time ago, It had cost me ages to collect all those things from cans.

This one is for the trade with lina :green:

Update! I am kinda sick of all the portraits, I wanted to do something more challenging, so I painted more of the body =D(I just started on studying anatomy now, so it will get better ) And I don't want to spend alot of time on one piece anymore. So the painted ones are done in about 1-2 hours

    from old to new:

The arm and colors look horrible don't they? ;P

Here's the blind contour(of my sister) I promised, well it 'was' a blind contour. I liked it too much and added some lines

Her eyes are placed too low Y_Y

I'm planning to paint this one, I'll post a wip from time to time.

    C&c's are welcome!

You're colour pieces are wicked. Any shortcomings in anatomical accuracy are more than compensated for with bags of unique style.

    great stuff.

I'm finished with it(decided to give her a nose anyway)! Sorry for the shitty pictures, I am too lazy to walk to the other room to scan it everytime, so I had to make pictures.. C&c's are welcome as always!

I use these materials, I actually have more brushes, but these are the only ones I use(I forgot to take a picture of the brush I used to make the textures).

-a cheap gouache paint box I took from school
-4 brushes, 1 big flat and tight one, 1 big flat and loose one, a small one for details, and a small one to ink
    -India Ink
-toilet paper and glass o' water
-jar of white gouache I took from school

    The WIP:

I first painted the background, you see that the paint is very thin so I can still see the lines through it.

Then I blocked in the colors, some of the blue strokes are actually red, but you can't see it on the pictures .

I decided that the lighting comes from the back and front. back lighting is yellow, and front lighting is soft and green.

Here you see I added the lines, but I wanted to have something overlap her to create some space in it blablabla, see the result above .

arghmisfit: Hahah! thanks! And age doesn't count!

    Van: Thanks

And as promised, I will post the WIP's, I couldn't take a lot of pictures tho, the batteries were almost empty .

the sketch of the pink crocodile, I can be very messy at this stage. I used a lot of layers for the background, first a darkgreen layer, then a mix of white, green and blue. And then I went over it with a dry brush with yellow paint.

A very bad habit of mine is to begin with the details on one subject first and then go to the next one. I'm afraid to forget to correct my errors later on. Like the green suit the crocodile is wearing, I had to find a way to prevent the suit from disapearing in the background. Since I want my paintings to also look decent without lines.

    Finished!

Now the WIP for the fish piggyriding on the alien boxer. I had no idea what color the background should be, so I blocked in the colors of everything else first.

I wanted the drawing to be full of lines, so I wanted to background to have a texture. I really wanted something to be pink in this painting because I hardly ever use pink. So I painted the ground pink.

The finished version. The alien boxer didn't look alien enough, and his pants were a real pain in the ass (notice the amount of yellow paint I had used for it?) I then added the lines, where I discovered that someone had used my brush and didn't wass off the ink, so my brush was all messed up. That's the reason why the lines are so thick!
