Some of my recent sketches, not overly impressed with them, they've been done in a really crappy quality sketch pad that smudges like mad and wont really allow for detail due to the texture of the paper. (that's my excuse anyway and I'm sticking to it,lol).

Decided to have a go at a character study, hated is so much that I removed it today, sick of looking at it's pathetic failurness(yes it's a word...*cough*) staring me in the face, time to go away and burn the evidence.

you have a pretty good grasp at shading and working from references. You might want to work on some gesture drawings and doing life-drawings to work on the proportions and anatomy.

I can't wait to see more of your work

Thanks, I'm supposed to be starting with a local life drawing class at some point, it's only once a month but I suppose every little helps.

Life drawing will help. You are already good at capturing the likness of your subjects. Life drawing and anatomy studies will bring up your proportions etc. Keep going

Love the way your did the hair and the neck/shoulders, but something seems off about the face (the nose keeps bothering me).

Hey TC, was that Megan Fox a few posts up?

Keep up with those sketches man. Be sure to try your hand at some friends and family as well. Glad you opened a sketchbook.

Not bad stuff, I'd say you should do a lot of life drawing. Gesture drawing is good for developing expression, too.

Thanks for looking, going to be doing lots more figure drawing as I know it's my weak point, will also be doing some cars and planes etc in photoshop to try and get my realism back up to what it used to be when I airbrush painted.

As some of you may know I managed to get accepted onto a Games art Degree course earlier in the week, while at the interview the tutor commented on my traditional work being much stronger than my digital work, with that in mind I'm going back to what I used to draw all the time namely cars, planes and other mechanical stuff(for now anyway)

With that in mind here's a work in progress..

Well bar the background (which I haven't decided on yet) the car's done, hope you like it as it took a good while to complete.

    Hi there,

that car has come out pretty sweet, in terms of background I think you should keep it fairly simple maybe even just a studio style set up, although the slight blue tint across the bonnet does suggest it being outside, just make sure the environment matches the cars lighting and reflections.

Today I started on a speed paint of Iron Man, I say started out as a speed paint because once I got started I couldn't tear myself away from it, provided a nice bit of entertainment for today anyway..
