    My sketchup journey

    Hi everyone =)

I discovered SketchUp from Ctrl+Paint and decided to study this amazing software because of all the possibilities it provides you with (I would like to use it to understand perspective, lighting, modelling, etc). I'm a beginner, this very afternoon was the first time I used the software and right now I am trying to follow the tutorials google provides.

This is a model I've created by following the basic tutorials. I understand how powerful this tool is, but I find it hard to imagine how I can apply all this to illustration and concept art. Any help?

Dave, have you seen this video case study on Black Massive? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlgtLXhwJSM One of the ways illustrators and artists use Sketchup is to outline accurate perspectives. You can create something in Sketchup very quickly, orbit the camera around to get the perspective you want, then export as an image. You can then use that image in Photoshop or illustrator to trace over to help with keeping accurate perspective.
