The Hammering Process: III
Time to start my third sketchbook. I plan on keeping this one going for a long time now. Let's see how far I can go. Since joining the site back in 2009, i've come a long way. And I still have a long way to go.
I've been at a sort of hiatus since mid 2010. Not drawing, mind you, but from uploading work here. I've visited ocasionally and seen some great stuff but didn't really keep my consistency. But now I wanna rejoin and keep the ball rolling.
So, here are some of my star pieces from late 2010 that I didnt post in 'The Hammering Process: II', some star pieces from 2011 and then I'll begin rolling out 2012's new work on a daily or weekly basis.

Here are some value studies I did 2 days ago. The helmet was from a concept I saw and liked, while the Horned metal figure is from one of Nova Belgica's busts. The smiley was all me lol.
I also have some character sketches and gesture studies done, however, I have no way of scanning them at the moment (they were done with pencil & paper). I hope to upload them sometime soon.

More digi-gestures. First one is a 1 minute round each, second was 30 seconds each and third pic was 10 seconds each. Trying to loosen up my hand and get ideas and characters down faster.
That lifey is gonna be put on standby, cause I keep rolling these gestures out late night and I'm pretty tired. Will do it though, oh yes indeed!

Thanks Lagarto! I've tasked myself this year with increasing my character design skills. So im going to concentrate heavily on gestures, characters, anatomy and people.
Here are some more gestures done traditionally with a blue Faber Castell pen I found laying on the floor. Today I was observing people eating at a food court. I also did some thumbnail sketches. Now im gonna go do that lifey thing I said I would do.

Here is some new stuff done. I've started playing around with the ink brush in Gimp. Did some stuff in a Yoji Shinkawa style, totally loving it!
First one is an Ink sketch, referenced from some art from MGS, and the other are some random doodles I did in the same style. Followed by some upper arm studies and then finally a portrait of a character Im developing for a personal project.

Some lower arm studies done today. And some portraits seen from some photos. Not perfect, but I was going more for a loose sketch then a exact rendition. I'll try that sometime later .
Last one is another character portrait for a personal project. Same as the last one.

Hey all. Got some new stuff to put up. I may not have updated in a while but I sure havn't stopped doing sketches and stuff. More portraits emulating Shinkawa's style for a personal project, an extra MGS pic, some more random Portraits, Gestures, Concepts, etc for your viewing pleasure. And here we go!
edit: MEGA sorry for the humongous pics, fixing them now!
edit 2: Fixed the huge images, made them smaller.

Got in some studies this week, some still life. First are some small blue slightly transparent stones, I think they go in fish tanks or something or are used for decoration, though I used them as counters when I played MTG.
And another is a spoon. Feel the power of the spoon! Twisting and contorting stuff around it in its reflection. I like that, helps me practice with reflections which I think came out quite right and true.

Ha ha. Just became a fan of your book for sure. All because I am a MGS Fan and of all the books I have been through I think yours was the first I have seen any MGS fan art of. Well done. I commend you!!! Ha ha.

Pete: Glad you liked the MGS and MGS inspired stuff, more to come definantly!
Ok, my video card burned out on my main PC so I havn't been able to do alot of things save for my school work and lots of sketching and marker work on paper. The following are some stuff from my Concept Art class. I will also eventually scan in my traditional work to upload it here.
I'll be uploading in the order in which i've worked on them. Let me know please if the images are too big. Since the monitor I am on is pretty big itself (widescreen, about 21 inches maybe). I adjusted a few, but I want to make sure.

Damn dooood you have been busy! The post are big, I myself struggle with sizing for the web
I would be nice if you reposted them smaller so they r thumb size, so we can view them in their entirety, but I know the need to keep moving forward
From scrollin around in my browser though the environs are look good, the black and white ones seem a lil flat they are kinda the same value throughout. However you seem to be realizing that because your are achieving some great depth in the last few, and you blew me away with the asteroid image ahaha pun intended cause im cheesy like that.
Oh also the marble's and the spoon rendering are AWESOME!!!!!
Thats shitty about your card, hope you can replace it soon, dig your progression man. Dont Stop marchin forward
