    Recent Life Drawings (updated 5-21)

I've been a lurker far longer than a member, and I haven't posted since I've been registered. Snce this is the forum that first drew me to CA, I thought I'd throw my first post here. Especially now that it's rolling with so many heavy hitters.

These are from my last year of school (because of $$, not graduating). I'd like to go back, and this place showed me a bunch of good ones. Anyway, let me know any crits you may have:

Now that I got that out of the way...

hey, I like these alot. especially the 1st, 4th and 5th.

all have a great sense of lighting, even though relatively small amount of darks are used.

the 2nd one looks like she's sitting underneath a tree on a sunny day. Her head is a bit too small.

the heavy outlining of the left shoulder in the 1st one makes that area a little flat compared to the rest.

    these are vine charcoal?

    good stuff!

hito- thanks alot, man. yeah, they got kind of washed out from the photos and the scan, but I tend to be a bit light with value. I should PS them or get some better pics but without a digital camera it could be a while You were pretty close on the second one--the prof put a slide of flora over the model. I thought it would be lame but it turned out ok. vine & compressed or charcoal pencil, and I use a chamois at times to blend.

Solid studies. The only thing that really jumps out at me is the lack of commitment. The lines all seem a bit shaky, as if you were hesitant putting them down. Nothing really hits me as being "BAM! THIS IS A LINE! WHATS UP NOW?!" if that makes sense? When you go with a line, really stick it to the viewer...

jet pack- yeah, my lines were kind of sketchy on those. I'll keep that in mind, thanks! I just have to work on heavier values all around, i guess.

I couldn't let my first ever thread die so quickly, so I'll post a couple more drawings. the last isn't really a life drawing, I guess I should have posted it in the still life drawing thread. or the waste-of-life drawing thread if there is one.
