I need serious advice on a career path

I've been creating art for a long time. I've never tried to be professional with it but i spend A LOT of time doing it.

given what I can currently show for a portfolio:
    DA gallery

Could I make it out in the real world with art? Is it possible for me to get into ringling or some other good art school? I can pay for it, but will I be likely to be placed in a good job?

I have been an electronics technician/ computer enthusiast for over 10 years now and have no luck finding jobs in my area for that either. I'm thinking of pursuing electrical engineering, but I don't know if I can cut it.

Please advise me on if engineering or art would be my better option of feeding myself. I'd prefer art, but If it's not going to happen, i'd rather let it go right now.

Your link is not working, so I am not able to check out your portfolio. Without seeing anything I would say that you are always better at things that you are passionate about, so maybe art is the way to go. Also, there is lots of room for people who are both technically and artistically skilled in the 3D arts. Personally, I am not a fan of art schools as they are over priced and too specific in what they teach you.

    my $0.02...

With that work? No, not yet.

    With that work? Yes, easily.
    I can pay for it,
You're already ahead of the game then.
but will I be likely to be placed in a good job?
    Define "likely". Define "good".
You can walk out of medical school and be guarenteed a job as a doctor. You can walk out of law school and be guarenteed a job as a lawyer. You walk out of art school with a diploma no one will ever ask to see, and a portfolio. The rest is up to you. How much do you want it?

thanks Elwell. I'm pondering switching to some sort of networking degree that allows me to dual major in art.

It's all up in the air though. I wish I had started this process a long time ago
