Why is this site so ugly?

Please, let us switch themes like most VBulletin forums do. The default theme for this is is UNUSABLY ugly. It literally looks like shit. Who designed this crap?

Aw shucks, we just decorated it for you. Goes off to sack team of highly paid designers.

I didn't think it was possible to be called an artist when you have nothing to say. It's like being a writer who publishes individual words as books and expects to be praised for it.

You could always post some art and point out exactly why the contrast upsets you. Go on. Don't be shy...

You know, I was just thinking about how I wanted the site to be hot pink with neon green trim. It's really too usable as is.

The colour scheme of the CA forums is actually my favorite that I've seen on any forum. Fancy that.

    My Sketchbook

And then God said, "Let us make man in our likeness and our image. Let us make him ridiculously hard to draw so that poor artists everywhere will have to spend 10,000+ hours failing repeatedly before they can begin to capture the form and likeness onto a two-dimensional surface." And there was man. And it was good. And artists everywhere lost their minds.

Two posts and each so insightful. Did CA turn this guy down for a designer position?

There's definitely better site designs out there. And forum ones. I find the Penny Arcade forum a lot more user friendly, and easier on the eyes. One or two of my friends that I've introduced to this site are frequent forum users and even then had difficulty finding a few things.

THAT BEING SAID.... I'm not trying to troll. Just giving the OP the benefit of the doubt. I've gotten used to CA.org over time and know where everything is, and have really grown to like the colour scheme and how it houses posted artwork. But there are also reasons why people are waiting for the new CA.org forum version.

You have to wonder what kind of lives these trolls have to spend the time to make an account then make a stupid post just to be banned, then they're probably tracking their posts getting little stupid giggles from absolutely nothing.

Well, I heard there was a bidding process between this designer and a thirteen year old who just learned how to use Frontpage (Does that date me? I guess it does). And after it turned out that the thirteen year old wanted something to the tune of fifty million dollars, Manley locked the other guy in the ConceptArt dungeons and made him churn this out.

    1. A nice neural color makes the art a bit more vivid.
    2. I like the small shifts in hue and saturation
    3. Its functional and simple
    4. ...blah blah blah more that fall under functional ... easy to read type...etc
    5. Your the last person to judge who ever designed this.
6.. But I must confess What we really need is a rainbow background with glowy <-? neon type and flashy decadent tassels, and lace...and breakfast cereals,,, lots of advertisements on the sides, cowbells, video adds that you can't x out of.. We need to get a 13 year old girl who knows Myspace to design the site.

It is ugly for a purpose, so when semiconscious lil pricks like you post their pictures they don't get overshadowed by the nice looks of the forum.
And even then, you will say that the BG color is enhancing the look.

I've been tempted to use this color background when doing studies in my sketchbook actually. It seems a bit similar to what you see in toned sketchbooks. Which I've always wanted to try but never have yet.
