    Peter's sketch thingies

So I haven't been really active on this forum...but given the fact that I reaaally want to become a concept/cg artist...I should be around more often.

So I'll be just posting a few of my crappy works now and then.

Sorry if I fail that much at drawing though...

    Cheers!

First picture is of one of the main characters in my story.Attachment 1606340
    Unfinished...as usual

Hmm perhaps I will upload a couple sometime.
Right now I'm focusing on getting used to photoshop.

Anyway, here's a work-in-progress of my current painting:

    Thanks for your kind words!

Also, I finished that painting not so long ago. Here's the link for it, if you're interested: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=214448

And now for the daily update:

Another environment practice. Will probably finish this one. For some reason, I'm starting to like playing with colors.
    Inspired by Feng Zhu's style.

Your Environments are beautiful. Reminds me of Feng Zhu's method of painting.

You honor me with your comment! Feng Zhu's my biggest inspiration.

Okay, a little update on two previous paintings and another two sketches. Not sure which one I'll finish first.

Peter, youre very welcome. I think youve got huge potential, the way youre already using colour and form show a lot of ambition and intelligence, and if you continue to generate stuff and study through drawing from life, and genrerally work hard, your work will move forward with leaps and bounds. Think about lightsources. Use simple 3d underlays as necesaary to do difficult things like tyres and replocated complex objects. Allow the image to develope but think about each componant, learn tricks from the best, read a lot for inspiration, and collate and study work you admire. I cant wait to see your stuff in a years time!

I cannot thank you enough. Your words motivate me greatly!
Yes, I have to study what you mentioned. I was foolish enough to add those underlays after, so I'll also keep that in mind! I'll try to do my best.

Okay, so here's today's environment practice. Kind of similar to that altar thing, but I've always loved places like these. I hope you'll like it!
(Also from my story I'm working on)

You're kind of ripping off feng in 2 of these images, you should state what your reference is to avoid being called a copycat, or worse.

The Crimson Rider characters in your #11 post remind me of the Dragoons in Final Fantasy Tactics One of my favorite units. I'm jealous of all the great colors I'm seeing in here!

    Keep up the good work!

A rip-off and copycat, huh. Well perhaps I'm just a failure at art.

Oh I never thought about that! It's great to see more people who also played one of my favourite games! And thank you kindly. I'll do my best.

Youre right to be a copycat, learning by copying masters is a good idea. I know exactly which Feng Zhu images hes talking about, i have them both the sketch and the finished piece in my files, and he did them as a demo for people to learn from. Maybe try doing some super accurate copies of Velasquez and Sargent, you will learn a giant amount.
    rock on!
