SeraphSword's Savvy SP Sequence (update 5/23)

Hey all, future student of the Kubert school here, and I've got three months til school, so, in order to keep improving, I've started this thread (and a sketchbook thread) to push myself. If I miss a day, please feel free to harass me to your hearts content. Praise and monetary appreciation are welcome. Critiques will win you my undying gratitude, since this isn't an ooh's and aaah's thread and I actually want to get better.

Start with a couple quick sketches (first one used only a quick glance for ref):

This one's a bit better, but still needs work:

    May 19th

Some wretched self-portraits, and a couple half-wretched ones.

First 3 are a little dated, but the last is last night (good God, that one sucked tho )

Firstly and foremost, It is truly good to see a face up here on these forums.

    A few crits:

These are done pretty quickly. I am not saying anything negative about spending short times on pieces, time is money after all. I still think you could honestly benefit from spending an hour or two on a portrait instead of 5-15 minutes. I know from experience. I started out doing the same quick sketches and stuff. When I started spending an hour or two just to get the proportions correct, my portraits doubled in awesomeness. I wish I had the correct words to express how beneficial it is to take the time to truly focus on proportions is, but I dont have the words...

anyways, good luck and keep them self portraits friggin coming...

jook - Thanks for comments. I know exactly what you're talking about, developing patience is one of those big things I hope to focus on over the summer.

No scanner yesterday, but all good now.

Both of these are horrendous (bad proportions, etc.) but at least I got 'em done. I figure a few hundred more and they might start coming out pretty decent. (about 30 min a piece for these)
