    Thank you SEVANS and Egg0!

Haven't been very artistic lately but the pictures of a friend of mine motivated me to do another photo study.

Unfortunately I accidently deleted the original, so no going back for fixing or improving this time.

Only photo quality this time. The bug was done in acrylics, the birds with markers.

REF studies except for the second last, which is from imagination and a failed value study. Yay I'm trying again!

Hey! The quality of your stuff is raising, I liked a lot the armor study, looks amazing and you've got a nice hand for animals and such, great work on that too m8. On the stuff from mind I'd say be confident, even though it screws up a lot of the works , it improves the overall quality of imaginative stuff. Overall nice progression. this is gonna turn out hot in some time, so keep it up

Your studies show a really good eye for value and colour, particularly on the armour and in many of the animals, and your rendering is progressing at a good pace too - the strokes are looking increasingly confident. Try to keep pushing the envelope like you have been recently with branching out into imaginative and life drawing.

With regards to finishing things, particularly on imaginative work, I find it helps to break up tasks into sessions and come back later (i.e. Sometimes, I will sit down and sketch, then come back to lay in the flats, and then later return for the tighter rendering), or try working on smaller projects and gradually building up stamina to work with to bigger ones. There are a lot of different working systems however, so try to consider where you are finding yourself straining the most with completion - is the session too long, are you getting fed up with the picture and wanting to move on to something new, etc. Considering the quality of your studies though, I am sure that you will produce some great imaginative material once you get into the swing of it.

Thank you so much Suira for your kind words! I do in fact think that my lack of confidence in my imagined stuff is the main reason why I am not improving and even am getting worse than before.

Thank you clockodile for your good advice, I'll try that!

Referenced, I am happy with the result, but the way I drew them didn't seem to work well for memorizing. So I wanted to draw them faster and rougher.Name: 1.jpg

Another attempt to draw them rougher, but then I seem to fall into the old habit of wanting them to be pretty and accurate rather than unbalanced and rough. :|Name: 2.jpg

Finally they are getting a bit rougher.

Luckily I still learned a little. This is a drawing of a horse from memory, from a few months ago.

Nice studies. What do you use for refs? Are there any live drawings in here as well?

Thank you Artificial, I usually use photo references. Actually I don't think I got any life drawings in here so far. (Though I got a few in my traditional sketchbook.)
I rarely have the chance to draw anyhting from life, other than myself, or objects like glasses, etc-which I find really hard to draw. I tried a few times to draw animals from life, but they are just moving too fast! XD However I'd really like to try that again.

Anyway, after you pointed that out I remembered my wooden doll and drew this.

A horse turn around. I'm so proud of myself that I actually finished this.
After having to redraw many poses because I got confused about which leg has to be stretched out, etc, I felt like giving up on this.
Also the perspective drove me crazy! But now it's done. - A bit farther down you can see a smaller version of the same animation.

Some more referenced horses, I am still not sure if I am learning something the way I draw these...is it better to try to draw these with fast, straight brush strokes or rather taking ones time trying to get as close as possible to the original,- or maybe rather draw them in shapes and forms, like tubes?
Also would it be better to not use the eraser and just deal with what one ends up with?Name: horsesREF5KL.jpg

Tried to use Sycra's technique of choosing colors that work well together. (I got a coolorus wheel now!^^) Not sure I succeded though, I mean the colors look okay, but also way boring.
But it might also be because the picture doesn't have enough depth? I guess I'll try this more often, so be prepared for more crappy pictures.Name: skizze.png

Your animal work is amazing- and your shading/rendering of the realistic form is so good, too.

I just realized I am way too impatiened! Just because I might have drawn a few hundred horses, doesn't mean I can draw horses.
I need to remember that it may not be so much about how many horses I draw, but how regularly and dedictated I'll draw.
Consistancy is more important than results at the moment, I think.
I have been drawing every day now for two weeks, that's good. However that doesn't mean I can see results yet, maybe I can't even exspect them yet.

For me personally, it's a success already though, I shall not forget that.

Just for explaination, yes I am drawing every day now, but not everything is worth showing here or some things are just not finished yet. (Another problem I've got to tackle.)

But so far I did a good mix of different things.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just for the times I don't know what to work on, as a reminder.
    practising:
    -gestures
    -referencing
    -proportions
    -angles
    -using what's been learned
    -speedpainting a scenery/picture (unfinished as always -___-')
-finishing an old picture (not done yet)
    -choosing matching colors
    -light and depth/grayscale
    -understanding proportions/animation
-using different techniques of holding a pencil
-using imagination (doing that way too little, I'm just too unsure about it)

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you so much, I only wish I could draw them like that from imagination.

As I don't want this post to be entirely art free, have a spinning mouse.
