hi marlo! great to see you chipping away to improve too. its hard to do new stuff huh? so frustrating. I think the still life'd look good if you ground them though; draw in the surface they rest on and add some shadows. it makes a world of difference.

    >>SKETCHBOOK. you'll visit me. I'll visit you, we'll have a tea party. with arts and shit. it'll be dreamy. stop by.

Learned some awesome stuff while doing this.

    First: was using an underpainting.

Second was never ever zooming in.

Third was fore ground, mid ground and background.

more snooping around tumblr and other artsites,
    found a nice tidbit.

    Quick freestyle perspective drawings.
I think I really needed this.
See, 30 second drawings on anatomy is what helped me really understand form and technique when drawing human bodies.
I thought with perspective you must rely completely rely on rulers. The advice on freehand sketching adds up wtih CTRL paints own freehand sketching teachings. This gives me a lot of confidence because with quick sketching, it will really click in with me through observation and such.

Also, I picked up a lot of the classics perspective books. Joseph d'amelio has some cool teachings!

    Keep at it!!

( I'd recommend the stuff you already know take time to learn - anatomy, values and perspective )

im a bit confused about the first and third image in your last post.
the first, is that a dam? how does the upper left portion of the painting work?
and the third... is that just objects in space? because it sort of looks like a room, but with the far wall centered on the horizon. which we all know is impossible.

    Hello Ashess,
in the first image, its a small creek with a bridge running through it. I was skimming tumblr and randomly picked an image to work on values. The circular form in the far-upper left corner is what I remember (do not have the reference anymore ^.^; ) what looked like a closed off part of the creek because of a small strip of tiny dead plants and wood blocking it from the main body of water. I am interested as to what made you think it was a damn.

As for the third image, I am not sure what you mean by the far wall being impossible--please elaborate on this. It's an unfinished/wip of a picture I took in a Whole Foods grocery store. I have a reference for this one. From what I've read from Joseph D'amelio's Perspective Drawing Handbook, there can be multiple vanishing points in one picture to which I was testing out ( something I did not know before and was pleased to find out about).

Thank you for taking time to comment in my sketchbook and I would love if you could write out a more indepth explanation of any issues arising with my perspective. Perspective is a very difficult subject for me to understand.

Great Works! Your practice in perspective really pays off... good improvement! I like your character designs too, especially the one in post 224.

    @StephenDraws: thanks hehe ;___;

I am still working on the underpainting, its BARELY halfway through. Found out a cool way to render trees. I've been cutting out a lot of shapes, however I need to focus in that one tree in the foreground to NOT rely on the lines, but form.

Need to also make sure I just don't render the entire thing through, as Chris Oatley says, I should make my artistic opinion on these things :].

also, the time I took a break, I am 1 hour and 41 minutes in. (just in case I lose the time on my stopwatch)
