Cool studies and thanks for visiting the page. I really see that you're putting in the work. Always think about proportions and placement of facial features in your sketches. And cool traditional stuff! keep working and keep going!!

Lovely new portraits in your sketchbook.

For the animal sketches I'd really recommend looking closely at some reference because the proportions are off. What always helps for me is to try to draw that animal from an understanding point of view.
For example, if you compare a cheetah and a tiger. You'll notice that their bodies are build differently even though they are both cats. Cheetas are build for speed, and thus are thinner and more aerodynamic. Tigers on the other hand live in the jungle so there is no point really in being fast, so strength is more useful, making them the largest cats. If you understand how it works it will become easier to draw it without reference in the future because you not only know how it is supposed to look, but also how it works.

Ofcourse that's just my approach to studies, just do what works best for you.

As always, keep up the good work.

lol thx man, the animals were literally just doodles not really taking notice of proportions or correct anatomy, except for the horses I thought there proportions were kinda ok, except for the very basic anatomy if any. thx for the compliment on the portraits and as another note I'll be doing more basic studies more like spheres and stuff really need to make sure I fully understand it before I proceed any further I think. Will be doing more digi stuff after that as well I think.

On most of them it feels like the legs are way to small and thin to carry the weight of the horse. A horse after all is quite a heavy animal:p So giving it very tiny legs feels odd

Zol- omg, thanks so much, I think I've made little to no progress lol and I kinda think I learn really slow so that comment really surprised me lol but thanks a lot.
topcross- yep, I know what ya mean about the horses legs now, next time I do any animal studies I'm gonna pay a lot more attention lol.

So anyways heres some basic crap, need to get better at transitional tones on curving, and some crap character sketches lol.

Ok so this update ain't about the picture, the sphere looks like crap and the shadow is pathetic, however, while doing this I realized I don't turn my flow down enough (it was probably too low on this one though) resulting in me trying to compensate with opacity and ending up with my picture looking muddy. Anyways, just wanted to let that known lol.

oh there's definetly improvement in your works, the shading has gotten much better and the values on your digital studies too. Keep working at it!
I know what you mean about the flow haha only recently do I noticed it too, it makes the brushstrokes look very mushy when it's too high (well in my photoshop it's called spacing but I think it's the same thing)

you seem to be going in the good direction, a good shading already and constructing bodies in a solid way

just one thing I would do, when you are drawing on that sketchbook is very nice but for example if you do faces, skulls, hands etc, do them bigger, preferably take the whole of the page, the reason for that:
You will force more motion on your arm, therefore gaining confidence and dinamism on your lines (tho it will be hard at the beginning)
also with a bigger drawing, one that trys to use most of the paper you will be forced to messure and consider the proportions more carefully so it fits on the paper
    hope it helps!!

voodoo mama- thanks a lot, and yeah spacing is the same thing I think lol
f1x- Thanks, will definitely take this on board, though I probably won't take up an entire page on each drawing (for the fact I'll run out of sketchbooks like theres no tomorrow) I will definitely start doing them bigger.

    f1x- thanks
here's the starting progress on a sculpture study I'm doing, taking way too long to render out though lol. p.s. will definitely change the background tone, way too close to the main value of the head.

Ok, so here's a sketch dump of studies from today. The first portrait is a self portrait which was a speed drawing, and the second was from my head using the whole planes thing but was a complete fail, so if anyone has any tips on where I'm going wrong on the planes, don't hesitate to say .
