Kill the Character Above: Comment Thread

Comment thread for the Kill the Character Above Thread.

Whoops, it looks like the first page already got a little messy. I guess I should've known that thread would generate some discussion. Anyway, I'll set this thread up here for you guys to use. Have at it!

Also, do you think we should have more of these kinds of threads, or is one enough for now? Obviously we shouldn't spam the Lounge with them, but maybe a little variety would be nice? I can even see these threads having their own subforum, if they're popular enough, so that if anyone thinks of some really cool idea for a game they can just start a thread.

I think 48 hrs is too long to wait. 48 minutes should be more like it. If you want to get better at your production skills, then learn to design fast. An hour is way too slow in some circles.

Yes, I was kind of thinking 48 hours is too long, but I think it should still be more than one hour. Let's get some more feedback on this before I change the first post, then.

Meanwhile, there's nothing stopping us from drawing faster...

48 Minutes is too slow, 48 hours too long. Maybe like 4 hours?
The better the quality the funnier it is, and not everyone has the skills to speed paint it and still look amazing.

I agree. While I'm not opposed to the thread moving fast, if I had to whip something up in less than one hour it would look like ████, and I'm pretty sure I'm not just speaking for myself. 4 hours sounds good to me. Anyone else?

Just coming in, i have some time to draw now and wanna join, but original thread got a bit confusing, whos in line to get killed?

Btw , i think 48 hours is too much, the thread wil die off soon like that, the point should be that you dont necessarily need to render a portfolio piece, something like this is fun more as a forum game as long as the ball keeps on rolling. A couple hours seems good enough.

Heh, well I'm pretty sure my attempts will suck regardless but yea, I think maybe 1 hour would feel a bit too pressured but I suppose at least it would encourage a faster turn over. 4 Hours does sound like a good amount of time.

For now, I'll change the first post to say 4 hours. As for who's next, I guess that means j.s. sabastian. Basically, every post there should have a picture, so if you posted there twice, either you're going twice or you'll delete one of your posts. If you posted there but you don't want to participate, then you'll have to delete your post. As for manlybrian, I guess he's going to have to edit his post and change his picture from beating up Randis to beating up Andrew when his turn is up.

In short: Who's next? >>> What's the first post that doesn't have a picture in it?

Well I don't think it really matters about who has posted so far, maybe make a rule where you state a clear challenge before doing your artwork such as:

"I hereby challenge manlybrian's character to a fight to the death"

And then it's clear that you are next to draw and who you are intending to kill. As it stands I don't think anyone has issued a challenge to manlybrian's character yet.

And then later (within 4 hours) once you have posted your artwork, you can go ahead and delete your challenge post, or leave it, we could even get creative with challenge lines

It wouldn't be a "Kill the Character Above" thread, then. That sounds like the sort of thing the two challengers should set up themselves in another thread, maybe? Doing something like that in the main thread would create a lot of confusion. I'm not sure of exactly what you're saying.

I see what you mean sorry! I don't mean it as a "challenge", i mean it more like:

"I declare that I shall kill >insert previous killers character here<"

I didn't mean it as a challenge to anyone you choose, i just mean it would be good for people to make an "official" statement upon deciding to kill the last victorious character.

Wouldn't that be kind of redundant if it's already decided that you're killing whoever's before you, though? Unless you're saying that people be allowed to comment without participating. That gets confusing, though. The system as it is right now keeps it nice and streamlined.

Well yea, but I think you're being a bit too idealistic about the smooth running of a thread game like this, hence the comment thread needing to be created. But yea you're absolutely right, it is redundant but I think it would help with clearing up who is next.

But yea, I think you're right, lets get everyone who has commented in the other thread without artwork to delete their posts and then whoever wants to step up to slay manlybrian's character can do so. I'll delete my post in there now.
