Your off to a awesome start.
I'd say do some traditional drawing studies though of the beats/snake like creatures so when you do end up painting them, they look more realistic.
Also head on over to ctrlpaint.com it is a great resource to learn digital painting.

Awesome work! Personally I like the upper most (from your last post) painting. I could even imagine finished piece. Post-apocalyptic, Fallout-like enemy with some sort of power armor, hehe...

Having fun with this new brush..
Most of these are wips from today, not sure which ones I'm going to finish
So here is some of the work I've been doing recently, need to do more practice on my designing skills
update trying to build up a portfolio so I can get it reviewed this month, maybe even start freelancing soon..
So I just started a class at cgmw with james paick, and it already has helped me out a lot, I can already notice improvement after 1 class.
