Just by way of introduction, my name is Rob, I'm a writer and concept/comic book artist from Melbourne (my real job is sysadmin but I'm trying to move more towards employment in creative fields with whatever time I can scrounge).

I've decided to complete a 30 minute speedpaint every Saturday from now on, and will post some comic book stuff too. The majority of work posted here will be done in CS5 start to finish.

I'm relatively new here so if I break any rules or need to format anything different please let me know. Cheers!

Thanks, good to meet you! Here is Iron Man from a few months ago. I put about three hours total into this, I think it would take another four to go in tight and get sharp details. If I was doing it as a proper pinup I probably would, but I'm trying to incorporate the speedpaint mentality into my work so I can put out a webcomic to deadline, and I'm actually starting to like working with this rougher style. I'm also leaving a lot of stuff half complete like this to come back to later when I don't have inspiration to paint anything new, but want to keep practising.

Nice to meet you, thanks for the feedback! I just tried to post an Iron Man painting from a few months back but it seems I've had my ability to post images locked out or something. I'll um... probably come back one more time and check to see if it's undone, I tried looking for a contact somewhere on the page but can't see anything. I posted a URL in one of my other attempted posts, I hope that hasn't gotten me locked out as a spammer. Just when I actually have a bit of motivation to start posting my stuff... arg. Too late at night.

    hello rob

I enjoy the colors and textures of the piece but I think it could benefit from some atmospheric shading to give it a sense of space and depth.

Good point actually, it could definitely use some fog too. Thanks!

some smoke would definitely do it as well as perhaps some in the background maybe clouds or atmospheric colouring?
