Thanks for stopping by my SB.
Nice enviro. concepts, though some of them are quite hard to 'read' - one of the goals of concepts like these that they should easily convey a scene or a mood.

Keep working hard! and keep posting!
    Cheers,

Hiya Blazingdimensions - Your stuff has been improving steadily as you go which is great .

You mentioned that you struggled with perspective, I can relate to that for sure. The best advice I can offer is what worked for me - to just do a stupid amount of different kinds of perspective studies. pick up a pad of newsprint or cartridge paper and do some old fashioned studies of one point and two point perspective.

Set up some simple still lifes and practice working out the perspective. Put some objects above you, below you, and in between and explore how the perspective changes.
You can also examine existing illustrations or photographs and figure out the perspective of the image. Where is the horizon line, where are the vanishing points?
There's no good quick solution for improving your perspective, some people have a knack for it, and the rest of us just have to slog through boring studies until something sinks in.

Pick the thing you hate to draw the most and draw a tonne of that. I used to avoid the stuff I didn't like- or the really hard stuff. I liked drawing people. Cars used to be my biggest vice- I just couldn't wrap my head around them. Finally I just sat down and drew tonnes and tonnes of them- until I saw them in my sleep. Now, not only can I draw a car, but it taught me a tonne about drawing curved forms in perspective. - like people! /face palm moment.

In general, the most valuable exercise for me is my sketchbook. I carry it everywhere and keep a bunch of pens handy to doodle, capture ideas and most importantly draw from life. I try to always use a pen, unless I can't find one- then I draw in anything I can get my hands on. But I prefer pen because erasing is wasting sketching time. It forces you to work with your mistakes, or move one when something isn't working and try again.

Sketchbook isn't about pretty- it's about learning, so it's my safe space to do some really dreadful work and not feel bad about it. The day I learned that every drawing doesn't have to look good - and that I could make a total mess, the quality of my work went up overnight. Sketch to LEARN.

I want to be able to draw anything and everything- so I just go out and draw everything .

The toughest thing about learning on your own is going to be finding the patience and discipline to sit down and do some long, boring studies. But there's no better way. Art doesn't have a magic bullet, there's no single book or project you can do to become a rock-star.
Those 1 hour value studies show you've got a bit of stubborn in you - That's how you get it done! just keep pushing and you'll get where you want to go

    happy sketching

idk heres a quick sketch after studying,(no reference) looks kindof abstract in a way.wow i just noticed i put 2012 in the signature ,oops.just a basic idea, i started experimenting and made this entire thing by starting out with inkblots.

pure experimentation, trying things ive never tried before.arranged textures and photo stuff around and manipulated it to come with a cool design, then painted over., its blah but looks interesting.used some of my old artwork and placed it duplicated/flipped it for different parts. was really quick but seems like a great way for coming up with different ideas fast that you didnt even mean to make.

There are things I like about your painted work. It feels really visceral and violent, but it also feels unfocused and messy which is not so great. I would recommend trying to control your saturation and values a little better to force your viewer to look where you want them to look. Establish a strong focal point. Good Luck.

Hey thanks ForScience, i really do need to get better at those things, for some reason im never sure where i want the viewer to look so i dont put as much range/contrast in my saturation and values, im definately going to work on that. thanks again i have no way to go to art school so crits like these really help me.

Heres some miniature car thumbnails in pen.allright time to ground in some foundations. my weakest point is freehand perspective drawing and cars. so im going to work on them, as you can see im pretty sucky at both but thats allright, working on it will help all my drawing skills.time to work on all the hard boring stuff cause itll help me improve .
