about done with this, dang shoulda seperated vanishing points more(or atleast the right one) didnt realize how distorted the picture came with both inside picture plane, oh well ill remember that next time I use perspective. hey atleast I learned something from it thats always good, make mistakes and learn thats the way it goes anyways.

hmm working on preparing for college, wondering if I should go to a community college first then transfer to an art university or I wonder if self study and community classes would work, hopefully itll turn out for the better
March 5th, 2012 #78
heres a beginning attempt at something, used guy from masters study as ref for colors and such
March 5th, 2012 #79
Hey man, I find perspective a pain in the a**. But one thing that helps is studying pictures and analyzing and observing the main lines and the different vanishing points. I know it sounds obvious, but when I stop drawing and think for a while, it actually helps.
Be careful with that last painting, he looks flat and the anatomy looks awkward. Search some torso pics and compare them to your painting. Also, maybe you could show us your initial sketch?

hey Adranior, ya i tried to attempt putting him in perspective but I can tell he looks a bit off and wasnt sure how to pinpoint exactly HOW to make it better, probably just need to study more, and ya gonna get some reference torsos to help me out, thx for the advice man. hmm I should do some Torso studies soon.

worked on it some more, hopefully starting to look a lil better, learning experience tho, definately wanna work on my torsos some more, maybe do some torso studies in different positions. and also practice drawing people in perspective too. btw Adrianor your critique really helped me out-thx again you pinpointed the thing I was trying to find wrong with it, idk why but I made him look more flat and stretched like a piece of paper, wanna really build mass in 3 dimensions , hopefully practicing and studying will help. hmm should make his right shoulder higher.. reference really does help, sticking to just your imagination when you dont have the experience and knowledge of how different things work doesnt improve the quality of your work.

Nice studies! And don't forget to draw some other body parts as well. Reminds me that I should do some myself, been slacking lately
March 6th, 2012 #86
thx Adrianor, ya definately gotta do that, want to get a visual memory of different isolated sections of the body overtime so i can construct people better.Heres a beginning sketch of an idea of an epic roman battle scene
March 7th, 2012 #87

more perspective and anatomy studies to come
March 7th, 2012 #89
heres a quick sketch of an idea, messed up a bit on proportions among other things of course... hmm i guess hes an alien punk warrior that levitates with a roman influence or something random of that sort. just noticed he's leaning a bit far back, gotta work on balance- guess it works if hes moving backwards while shooting though. I want to do more fluid posing and "alive" figures, instead of rigid ones, guess that takes time and more gestures will help.
