Kate Pfeilschiefter's Sketchbook + dragon stuff
Previously I've been hesitant as to create a sketchbook here. There are so many awesome artists on this site that it was daunting to my wannabe concept arting self. But a very important step to improving is critique and exposure.
So... Hello folks! I'm Kate Pfeilschiefter and this is my sketchbook, I hope ya'll like it, and if you don't I'd love to hear your advice. My usual forte' is creatures and beasties. I'm trying to break out of this and get more into drawing human characters, environments and everything else.

I like the interesting shapes you manage to give to your creatures. Really makes them stand out.

Hey, I'd have to say I disagree with your statement! I think your concepts are really fantastic. Your creature concepts, landscapes, and imagination are inspiring! Keep up the great work and continue to add more!

wow, I'm really loving you creatures. The 'how to train your dragon' one's my favorite.

oooh. how much I like your "rabbitdogs" - of course your animals in general - it's so cool to see animals who aren't existing, but they look so real! keep the great work up!
(I would appreciate it if you could find the time to step by my sketchbook too thx!

Some creepy things are going on here! But they look very promising! I like it how you work with the muscles and the textures of your creatures. You seem to have some knowledge about anatomy and about digital fun. Really good designs.
But still, it's a great plan to come out of your comfort zone.
What I noticed about the painting with the girl is that her pose looks rather stiff. Your depiction of the muscles and form of the human body doesn't work so well yet compared to the creatures. I'm not quite sure what's the story behind the picture, but if the girl should look a bit frightened or shy, you could move her shoulders a bit up as she's acting in an insecure manner.
So, I'm looking forward for updates. I'm sure this sketchbook is going to be very interesting!

I know I've got no say in this matter since I am crap so far, but if it can help, I'd try to change your praying mantis and devil's eyes because they look a bit 'personified', in other words, they remind me of human eyes too much and they are supposed to be beasts! I fucking love your jackguars

Awesome dragons and creatures. Keep it up! Are you a pro?

Nah, not yet, I'm still in art school. The idea of the girl was that she's a changeling, so she's supposed to look slightly stiff and threatening... Maybe not threatening, just off. Like something's not quite right with her. But you're right, I'm not quite as comfortable yet with humans as I am with other animals. And thanks everybody for the crits! I don't know how often I'll be posting, since schoolwork takes up a lot of my time, but whenever I have something interesting to show I'll update.

Haven't visited here in a while. The size restriction of image uploads keeps me from updating. As I always have to spend a ton of time re-sizing stuff so the forum will accept it.
This is just some random stuff that was already in the acceptable size zone. I'll come back with more later.
