I have an awesome idea for a shirt, and have finally finished the design. I already sent myself a letter with the idea, and the layout I am going to use on the tshirt (I used a certified receipt too). This is called a "poor man's copyright".
Anyways, I've finally finished, it's at it's printing stage now.. My question is, can I upload the final version here, and have some sort of copyright ownership? Because when you upload a picture, it asks the "Copyright owned by". That and a time stamp is put on every forum post.
Or should I send myself another poor mans copyright of the final 2 designs (one on a black shirt, one is on a white) to be safe.
I want to upload it here and show people and get opinions, but I have a feeling this idea could make me a good chunk of change, and I do not want ANYONE steeling it.
A "poor man's copyright" gives you no benefit at all.
All work you create is copyrighted to you as soon as you create it.
If you want additional protection ( at least in the US) you need to pay for a registered one. Http://www.copyright.gov

If your design is good and catches on, you'll make a chunk of cash AND the market will soon be flooded by gazillions of copies. Irrespective of what the law says, and irrespective of what you do about it.
That's how things work nowadays. Unless you have the resources to bomb China back into the stone age. :-)
