    ★Amasmalyn's sketchbook★

    Hi, I'm a 16-year old student looking for advice to improve my technique and art in general for when I apply for college. All critique is welcome.
    Right now I'm aiming to either go to SAIC or MICA. c:

    I've been so intimidated by this website for so long. I'm terrified and happy at the same time that I finally got around to making an account and posting here. ^^;

    Any links to helpful references, resources, and inspirations would be greatly appreciated. 'u'

    You're so young and you've got a great imagination. Girl, you are going places if you just keep it up. I'm guessing you already know or have read this book, but here is a link to Andrew Loomis' "Figure Drawing for All It's Worth". I found it to be an extremely helpful resource. You're certainly good at drawing figures but there's always room for improvement.

    Ah, thank you so much! I got this book from the library once but never got around to actually studying it in-depth. I'm glad that there's an online version so that I can actually read it now! c:

    Hey, welcome to CA!
    Your watercolor studies are fantastic, and it seems like you have a pretty good idea of anatomy. I think you should certainly build upon that knowledge and study Loomis like littlebones suggested. Also, I'd try do some still-life studies. That will really help you to understand the fundamentals such as value, lighting, form, etc.

    Nice concepts here.
    I really like the first posts, they fit much on illustration works.
    I;d say to start some anatomy studies maybe, from real life, to make your objects more solid.
    Also nice watercolors!
    Keep up!

    Portrait done for class. I'm making another version for a diptych so it fits my concentration.
